Trygve,
I know what you mean. A short while back, I was getting frustrated with my battery problems on the Revo Plus that I thought I'd try and find another product. Walked into a Palm store and tried the m515, their latest. Other than the nice colored screen of the Palm, I found the Revo still the better product.
The grass ain't always greener on the other side.

Thomas,

You can replace all the RSC files on your emulator by the files copied over from your real french machine (you need one, of course)

Subject: CHECKDISK
Hi Guys,
For Kevin Thorne re CheckDisk:
For some reason (which hopefully one of the "techies" will explain) CheckDisk does not work correctly on the netBook/S7. A friend of mine and I have both experienced exactly the same phenomenon that you did - let me hasten to add, without permanent consequence - and were advised by Psionet not to use CheckDisk on our netBooks. This was a year+ ago and our machines continue to hum along happily.

Kevin wrote:"
.........I decided to check both my C and D drives on my S7 to make sure everything was OK. My D drive (340Mb IBM Microdrive) was fine but C (16Mb plus additional 16Mb upgrade RAM) was not. This is the message displayed:
"The Fat Indirection Table 646 (Hex 85) is corrupt. This is a MAJOR problem that this version of CheckDisk is unable to fix at this stage. You should reformat your disk and restore it from a previous backup. Try NOT to delete any file or directory from it, as it can corrupt it even more. CheckDisk cannot repair this problem." "
We are a lot of fiddlers aren't we. I did the same myself shortly after upgrading the memory of my dear departed Netbook. Do not fret, it is the upgrade that causes the problem and all is fine. I cannot give you the technical reason, just trial and error experience!

Answer to: Arent_Kits_van_Heijningen
Re. Ultra PC's - Thanks, but looking at these devices I think they are too small for me, and without a decent keyboard I could not work on them.
Re. 10 yrs old PC - My son's PC of 1994 was totally obsolete, had to throw it away. Even my own PC I bought 2 years ago is already totally outdated ... 10 yrs seems to me a very very long time in the computer world. And who says it will slow down ?
Re. UUD - The network works with Compuserve Classis without problems, I used it last time I was in Paris some months ago.
Answer to: Thomas F. VAN DER ZIJDEN
Re. MochaPPP - Interestingly enough I found that at home with Windows Millenium it works best with terminal and carrier detect ticked on the Psion, while at work with NT4.0 it worksonly with both unticked. Don't ask me why.

Subject ....Table 646 (Hex 85) is corrupt...... always appears when checking with ChecDisk Utility any RAM updated C drive .
is an "Error-error" msg; Kevin Thorne is right in deducing that its Cdrive is OK... ChecDiskU launched i the ER3 era was never updated and is unable to check added RAM space

If you use A2 more frequently than A1 and want it to be launched at the first A press.... why not renaming A2 in 1 (and A1 in 2)?

Subject: CheckDisk / Opera vs Web
Kevin Thorne asked about Atelier's CheckDisk on his S7 16Mb plus additional 16Mb upgrade RAM.
"This is the message displayed:

You should reformat your disk and restore it from a previous backup. Try NOT to delete any file or directory from it, as it can corrupt it even more. CheckDisk cannot repair this problem."
"..I'm also wondering if CheckDisk is maybe misreporting a non-existent problem."
Had this problem myself in October 2000 and like you was worried. However after posting to the digest was reliably informed it was nothing to worry about as CheckDisk is not able to handle the DIMM module - program was writen well before the Series 7 appeared. I have had no problems since discovering this non-existent problem.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posted this earlier but no progress so far so trying again.
After wiping the ROM on my Series 7 (flat back-up battery!) all my .html files have Opera icons instead of Web. I want both programs on the Series 7 as Opera is occasionally useful when can't open a page using Web., but want to make Web the default browser as much prefer the way it works. So any idea how to change back?
Tried renaming the Opera folder and resetting but no joy.
