Hi,

Honestly what Dynamism does is really slim, they are buying the units at retail and tacking on $200 to the price and you are supposedly paying for it to be anglisized, but it only takes a minute to do it yourself, so it's hardly worth it.  We have been working on C700 specific versions of the apps, you can tell from www.thekompany.com/embedded on each products drop down for ordering, there is a C700 version.  These are optimized for the C700, the app might run, but won't change orientation and stuff like that.

Hi,

Nice trick

No macro as much as I  know but Robin Hood' Alarm+1.46  gives choices for cancelling alarms (&Mmore)

Subject: IR is Showing Strange Behavior

Hi All,

my Psion (German 5mx 16 MB) is showing some strange behavior lately when I try to make a backup or synchronize with Win98 via IR. The Psion has reset spontaneously a couple of times and the connection is sometimes difficult. All a little annoying.

Today I got a Psion error message while making the backup:

Program Closed

Program SocketServer

ErrorCode Irda MBufAllocFa

ErrorNumber 18

... and the connection was closed.

Any clues anyone?

Karsten.

>> Does the card support encryption on the netBook? I'm using the Agere/Orinoco WaveLan II Gold which does :-), but it blocks the stylus :-( <<

I have set up 64bit WEP on our home network; all of the cards (including the Buffalo) and the router support 128bit WEP, but the combination of an apple Airport card and a Draytek router *only* supports 64bit WEP (this I found on the Draytek.de website!), so that's what I've had to use. And it is nice not having the stylus hole blocked...

Cheers, Ian.

Subject: Screen "ripple"

I am enjoying my new netbook hugely, but I have a couple of gripes.

1. When I tap the screen using the pen, or adjust the angle of the screen, there's a patch in the centre of the screen that "ripples". My 7 has

always done this when being opened, but never when tapping with the pen. Does this imply that there might be a problem with screen, or could it

just be that there's a bit of distortion in the support around the screen, which will loosed up as the netbook ages? As I have a 6 month guarantee on this, I'm wondering whether I should have it looked at straight away, or wait and see if it disappears with time.

2. The case switch doesn't seem to work; ie. it doesn't switch off when closed or on when opened, even with these options checked in the Switch On Control Panel. Could the WiFi card (power) settings influence this in any way, or is it just the switch?

Thanks in advance, Ian.

Subject: S3c/S5 PCMCIA Pod and Nokia Cardphone II

Hi Trygve,

You recently wrote to the digest regarding the GlobeTrotter:

".... In theory it SHOULD work perfectly in a PCMCIA pod made for the S3c/S5

machines since they have their own batteries (4 x AA cells) and no real power

limit...

(I have this pod, but no Globetrotter. It works OK with the Nokia Cardphone

II, which also draws too much power for a netBook)"

I know you say it in the text qouted above, but can you just confirm that the

CardPhone II definitely works in the pod. If you also have the moden

configurations settings as well, they would be grately appreciated, as I have

the offer of one of these excellent devices.

Subject: Message to Rolf Brunsting: have you received my PM? / Spam from Yahoo

Dear Rolf,

I was just wondering if you received my message concerning our compatriote programmer who might be interested to take over the duties/development for MBM View?

I am starting to think that my message has been caught by some spam trap.

Dear all,

I also heavily suspect Yahoo. I am only subscribed on one public Yahoo l, a good one!) and its language is French. For the rest this e-mail address is only used for English and Dutch (also rarely in public) and for private communications. Guess what? I now receive *French* spam!

Lest one of my French friends did something stupid I can safely blame Yahoogroupes.

I have been advised to use something called Cloudmark. Apparently this is an internet-based spam filter that operates on the fact that its members tell it that some addresses are spam addresses. Unfortunately, it seems that this internet database cannot be operated by a Psion.

Yours truly,

Thomas van der Zijden

Dear Derek,

<< My last phone was an Ericsson PF768. I'd be grateful for suggestions of what to replace it with ... >>

I think it's best that you contact T-Mobile, as One2One is currently known. There's a good chance that T-Mobile allows you to get a new phone at a reduced price because (a) the PF768 is medieval model by mobile phone standards and (b) that you've used T-Mobile's services for quite some time without changing phone. I can mention a few suggestions for a new phone but T-Mobile may have a list of phones you can choose from. Mention them and I'm sure Digest members will give you the advice to allow you to pick the best one.

There is a different version for different Psions.  I've used it on my 5mx for a long time, showing a chart of battery voltage and hours.  I also use it on my Revo+ and have never had any battery problems as reported by many users.  It displays number of hours to battery 10% level and number of days of inactive use left.  It's also used on my 7 and was the first app I installed on my new netBook.  Here it displays a chart of the battery voltage with time and an indicator which is a big improvement on the built in one.  There is also an hour counter for the total time used on battery and another for mains.  Using this chart it is possible to get a very close indication of time before a recharge is required.

I just tap the 4th User app to bring up the display.

Re.: Killing app's - I think Ctrl-fn-Shift-K while standing on the xxx.app file will do the trick. Alternatively Assistant and other programs have a kill file function.

Re. Synchronising - I don't think you can synchronise two EPOC files with each other but only replace a later one with an earlier one like the EpocSync program does.
