I also use Chadis on my Mako and netBook. There's one thing that puzzles me on the Chadis7 version - what is "dT= xxxx Hrs" supposed to mean? I found no explanation on Kevin Millican's website.

Subject: 5mx for sale or swap
Hi Folks,
I am starting to use my Psion 5mx less and less now - and I may be coming down with "new gadget fever".
So I am open to offers on my 16 MB 5mx. It's a couple of years old and has had the hinge replaced. It has a Palmtec Hardcase, a couple of extra styli, the mains adaptor and a Psion to Garmin GPS lead.
It has just about all the Psion to Garmin GPS software there is - I wrote an article reviewing the software while working for Garmin, plus Compactor, RMR Zip, MBM View, Street and Route from Palmtop, and lots of other software installed on 64 MB card.
I'm interested in sensible cash offers, or a swap for Treo 180 ( must be SIM free and unlocked) - just seen them on the net at Dabs.com for around £150. I reckon this would give me a back up phone, with email and a chance to play with another O/S. Most of my computing these days is at work on a PC, with a laptop at home due for upgrade later this year ( on that note if anyone is interested in a Vaio F305 with DVD and FDD - which works fine on mains, but not on battery, and has serial mouse as the track pad has died - please drop me a line off Digest).
All the best,
John
PS to Owen - sorry haven't been in touch for a while, running the sea school has been very hectic these last couple of months.

Hello, Thomas,
since I am Moderator for several (German) Yahoo groups I can tell you
that this depends on the setting of the Yahoo Group. The
Founder/Moderator of the group can decide if the E-Mail-addresses of
the members are visible to all or if they are only visible to
moderators. If this setting is wrong, a possible spammer could simply
join the group, "harvest" the E-Mail-Addresses and leave. But this
cannot be blamed on Yahoo. Please ask the founder of your group about
this. Maybe he does not know about this option.

Go to AlarmPlus in the system panel and deactivate it, then open the System/Apps-folder on D and transfer the Alarm+ folder to C/system/apps. Reactivate.
I haven't tried this so it might be that the transfer doesn't work and some other opl/ opx files might have to be moved as well (check with OPX-Scan) or that the .ini file should be deleted before you can start it again.
If the transfer doesn't work at all just delete the Alarm+ folder and install the program again on c. (Then you'll probably find out anyway which additional files are/ were installed) However, any leftovers on D won't hurt or take up that much diskspace that a reformatting hassle would be justified.
Good luck,
Astrid

RE
As specified for safely uninstal or upgrading one first must DISABLE Alarm+
Then you may try move your D/sys/apps/alarm+ to C:/ or rinstall it there.
Don't forget: an initial "pinhole" RESET is needed after install!

But beware if you snooze your alarms - snooze is totally screwed up by this app. Plus I suspect it sometimes prevented auto-switchoff from working. Good little app otherwise though.

Virii? Why on earth would the plural of virus be virii? Makes no sense. And yes, I do know that it's a *very* common mistake... :)

:) Well, I tried and successfully Googled your email address, so no doubt spiders could too. And do you not think the fact that you get French spam is because of the FR suffix on the address? Spammers will specifically buy batches of emails for certain nationalities.

460800 BPS is a standard rate for RS-232 ports with recent UARTS , ZyXEL offered this for years on their ISDN modems
Here's a brief table :
300 ( the good old days )
600
1200
2400
4800
9600 ( v32 ,GSM Data , Fax over both landline and GSM
14400 ( v32 bis , single- circuit HSCSD )
19200 ( v32 terbo )
38400
57600
115200
230400
460800 ( highest rate currently available over serial leads )
921600 ( that is the curent limit , only available over Bluetooth or high-speed IR links )
These are nominal speeds , actual speeds depend on system architecture/load , protocols used , tasks running in the bacground , whether compression/error correction is performed in hardware , etc , so your mileage may vary k

Surely you are not saying that the 9210 is incapable of handling emails the size of the digest?. I appreciate that memory is tight on the 9210 but if you keep as many applications as possible on the memory card and shut everything else down with a task manager surely it would work okay?.

Subject: Synchronising Agenda / Rebuilding the Mail Index file
Howdy!
Tom Robertson wrote (> ):

I use EpocSync. However, remember that this only updates both computers to the latest version of the complete Agenda file. That is, the last one that was closed and saved to disk, even if all your important changes were made to the other one. That means you cannot make changes to the same file on both machines between synching. As long as you can live with this limitation, it works just fine and is a very useful tool.
> I have a garmin 12xl. Is there any way to get the

I use PsiNMEA. RealMaps is another. Both of these can use charts in bitmap format obtained either by scanning a paper chart or taking a screendump from a mapping application on another computer, but I've never been able to get the chart indexing in RealMaps to work properly.
Somebody menetioned that you can rebuild your e-mail index file by deleting the old one and creating a new file named "\System\Mail\Index" from any application. I tried this with a Word file, but it didn't work. The Email application just sat there "opening" forever. I then created a text file named "Index" by exporting an empty document to text from Word, and Email opened up and recreated the index beautifully.
This had the added bonus of indexing several old "lost" e-mails that had been left behind when I'd made the mistake of synching E-mails with EpocSync without renaming the Mail folder on the machine that was being updated.
BTW, I would suggest renaming rather than deleting the old Index file. Then delete it when you see that everything is OK. The same with synching e-mails with EpocSync. Rename the Mail folder on the machine that's being updated, then delete the old (renamed) one when you have confirmed that all is OK. In fact, I've made myself a small program that renames the mail folder to "MailX and closes all open applications ready for synching. Once EpocSync has done its job successfully, I delete the renamed MailX folder.

Hi Richard,
From the replies you have received to date, I seem to be swimming against the tide here <g>, but IMHO, yes, it *is* better to install OPXs on C: (a) in my experience, the apps in D will work a little faster if the relevant .opx files are in C (I discovered this with my first, particulary slow, CF card, when transferring the OPX files to C speeded up many programs quite a bit; but (b) even more importantly, again IMHO, if your .opx files are only on D, and if you happen to test a shareware app, say, and install and then uninstall it, the installation may superimpose an .opx file over an existing one in D, and then on uninstallation remove it altogether, leaving some other app(s) without any .opx file(s) and therefore unworkable... that has certainly happened to me on a number of occasions! As a result, I now leave my OPX folder on C, but backup the folder to D: then if the above happens, I simply recopy the D OPX folder back to C...
Also, I would advise placing your System\Recogs folder on C: if you let it in D, it is quite likely to cause problems (even hard resets) on removing and repacing the CF card.
Hope this helps :-)
And more recently, Richard wrote (>):
>The annoyingly useful AlarmPlus is on my D disk, and I >want to reinstall to C, (then I won't get the message when >D disappears). However, Alarm+ isn't mentioned in the >Add/Remove Programs. Any ideas how I can safely >uninstall it?
That's strange, I also have it on D, but it *does* show in my Add/Remove (AlarmPlus 1.44?)! Maybe, delete folder D:\System\Apps\Alarm+ (and C:ditto), also the Alarm+ files (two) in D:\System\Controls and one in C:\Sytem\Libs - these are all I can find :-) - and install it again, perhaps even after a soft reset if necessary?

Thanks for the help Rolf.
I had looked at the old digests and come up with the Siemens ME45 but
only found one place actually selling it sims free for £140.
T Mobile are offering me a Siemens S45 at £100. What do digest members
think?
As I said before I don't need anything fancy. I had my Ericcson PF 768
so long that the kids I work with thought it was a new model, and I am
only giving it up because it has been in the sea.
The main requirement is that the phone works with my Psion 7.
