For Nicholas Block: You don't need to buy a PsiWin 2.3.3 CD. Go to Mike McConnell's site http://www.mikemcc.org.uk/ click on General Info button, then PsiWin button, scroll to bottom of page and click on PsiWin 2.3.3 button. You'll probably have to register to get it, but it's free.
For James Masters' backup problem: Have you tried a soft reset? Are you using PsiWin 2.3.3? (see above if not)

Subject: Re- Itamar best fit pda
In response to Itamar on best pda fit for you. I just wanted to add that I have a Sony Clie NZ-90, and it is a wonderful machine for what is does. What does it do best? It takes beautiful pictures, movies, voice recorder, bluetooth, wi-fi,
photo album, flash player, etc and yes it can be used as a working pda, I call this one my vacation pda...music..pictures
stored information. I also use it allot at work. I am a mechanical designer and I work mainly on space programs. We
get parts from all over the place with no drawings, so off I go with my sketch pad, measuring tools, and my NZ-90 for pictures. But my Netbook never strays far. So if a combo of tools does the job, so be it!
How's the weather in beautiful Europe?
God Bless
Scott
Question: Im too lazy to look this up, what is the maximun compact flash size you can use in your Netb

I'm using EpochConnect which came with my [unsed] MAKO.
There must be plenty of those discs around because they were selling off the machines cheaply.

Sorry, to put in another personal note, but someone called (I think) Laurence from this digest just emailed me and his email got zapped by MailWasher before I could read it - Laurence, can you re-send please?
And paging Rolf - has he disappeared from the planet? I haven't seen any postings by him for a month....

This isn't quite what I meant, just read "minutes" instead of "seconds"...

Re: S3MX update
Gheeez!
>>>Battery consumption : All Symbian32 phones are quite heavy on batteries if you are going to use the organiser functions intensively<<<
In comparison to what? They are the most battery prudent smartphones in the market. Also, are you sure it is the organiser functions and not heavy use of backlight?
>>>The s3mx being a monochrome Symbian16 device is far more frugal in this respect <<<
1. There is nothing called "Symbian16". SIBO is an all Psion OS.
2. Could you explain in detail why you think a 16-bit OS is more frugal on battery power than a 32-bit OS; with memory, screen type, peripherals etc ceteris paribus.
>>>There is only one version of Symbian16<<<
No there are zero versions of "Symbian16", because it does not exist. There are, however, several slightly different versions of SIBO, e.g. for 3, 3mx, Siena and Workabout.
>>>there are at least 3 different releases (ER 5.1 , ER 6 and ER 7 , not to count embedded versions )<<<
So you still haven't understood the difference between 'embedded OS' and 'open OS'.
>>> Symbian32 is a high-profile target (can I say sitting duck ?) for litigation by MicroSoft about intellectual property issues while Symbian16 is almost forgotten and unlike Symbian32 unlikely to affect MS's bottom line <<<
Please explain in which areas Symbian are using Microsoft's intellectual property.
>>>If MicroSoft is attacking Symbian32 on IP issues , this means the end of the road for all non-embedded development for this platform<<<
With your incredible logic, this means that Microsoft is already dead, because Sendo is attacking them on IP issues.
Again, please explain in which areas Symbian are using Microsoft's intellectual property. Also please explain why this would affect non-embedded development only. You also need to explain why this would be the end of the road, or even any sort of threat, for Symbian; in particular in view of the fact that Symbian OS does not exist, and has never existed, in any non-embedded version at all (!!!).
Moreover, if you think Symbian has taken one single line of code or one single piece of technology from Microsoft, please explain exactly which one. There is no IP legal process going on at the moment between Microsoft and Symbian, hence I'm sure Microsoft needs your help, because they would gladly throw a spanner and sue Symbian even with half a reason.
kind regards

Hi Simon,
I'm not 100% sure (i.e. I haven't checked this) but I imagine that the 4 silk screen buttons being remembered works in the same way as the position on apps. on the Extras bar. I.e. if you set their position by just tapping on the side bar of the 'User applications' or 'Extras' bar to bring up the 'Application settings' then the settings aren't remembered after a soft reset. If however you do it by going through the Control Panel and then selecting 'Applications' then they will be...
Could be wrong of course - just a best guess... ;¬)

Martin Guthrie

Re.: Psiwin for Windows XP - If you start Psiwin on the PC and check under Help it will show "About". Doubl click and it will give you a screen with the exact version you use (mine says Psiwin 2.3.3 Build 149). As to buying a copy from one of the subscribers, I am not sure about the legallity of such a purchase
Answer to: Simon Dare
Re. full optimising of my D drive - Just out of interest, would it not be a lot faster to copy your D-drive (a CF card) to a PC, reformat the CF card and copy the files back again ?
Anser to: James Masters
Re. Psiwin Backup problem - Could it be that you have the same disk or folder name on the Psion and the PC ? That will surely create a problem like you have now.

To Nicholas Bloch Subject: Psiwin for Windows XP
PsiWin is free and used to be downloadable from the downloads section of the Psion site. If it is not there you might want to try thr Psion Tecklogix site.
If you get no luck there, I might have the zip file (all 23MB) on my PC somewhere. E-mail me if you need a copy and I will send it to you, thoug if you don't have broadband you are looking as a lengthly download time.

Reply to Itamar Engelsman
Do not be that pessimistic. And no, I did not get any guarantee of upgrades or services when I bought and downloaded the MSN messenger for Epoc in June this year. However, I have received free upgrades to quite a few of my other Epoc software and expect the same to happen with MS Messenger for Epoc or a refund for the $ 15 I paid less than six months ago. Furthermore, the programme is still advertised on Ruksun´s website and it even seems that one can still buy and download it on Handango even though it doesn't work which I find deeply unfair.
