Subject: Programs cannot be launched anymore after installing a new one (?) on 5mx
Hello All
Right after I installed a few new programs on my 5mx (among which KMLink and KMLinkWin), some of my usual programs (not those delivered with the machine) cannot be launched anymore, a window:"SYSTINFO.OPX or SYSRAM1.OPX not supported" appearing instead.
Any help would be most welcome.
Greetings from Grenoble
Stephane

Hi Itamar!
Re.: Multitasking - "If another machine closes WORD and opens it again fast enough the result is the same."
Is it really? At least you'll loose the possibility to undo yor last changes, will you?

Daniele,
'View HTML mail' a macro by Niel Markwick requires Macro 5 to run, this will install the required opx file for which macro.oph is the header file. Macro 5 can be found at: http://pnicolas.epocboulevard.com/.

Dear Michael,
Maybe these new PALM-OS devices are *that* quick with opening and I'm totally wrong, but I can't imagine opening a program everytime I need it instead of just selecting it from the already open ones.
I use to own an old Palm IIIx, and was very happy with my purchase until I discovered Psion... I hope I remember this correctly, but when I leave an app to go to another, I dont think it 'closes', when I get back to the app it is still open exactly where I left it.
Warm regards,
Koi Hin

Owen,
>>I want to rename all the files automagicaly so that for instance DSCF5432.jpg becomes 15432.jpg, DSCF5445.jpg becomes 15445.jpg etc.<<
ZTREE is ideal for this kind of task. All you have to is to tag all the files you want to act upon and rename them in one go (in your example to: ////<1>*.*). Each backslash deletes a character - in this case four backslashes delete the string DSCF - and any string between <> is inserted - in this case the digit 1. You can add longer strings and also sequential numbers. The files do not have to be in the same directory and they can be scattered all over your hard drive.
Look up ZTREE dot com.
The latest release includes a very useful help file in pdf format.
I can say without exaggeration that in terms of functionality, elegance and ease of use ZTREE is in the same class as Psion/EPOC.

Joseph

Subject: GPRS aircard/netbook
Hello All!
I've been checking the digest out for some time now, hoping to hear some news about the GPRS aircard (T-Mobile in the US NEW YORK region) being used with the netbook (even an older netbook version).
Has anyone been using this service? And If so,
How well does it actually work?
Can I continue sending and receiving faxes an emails with no problems?
Is it worth getting this aircard or can I just use a newer phone that's GPRS enable with the IR port?
Will this IR port work with the 5mx as well? and If so,
Is the speed the same as using an aircard?
I know I'm hitting ya hard with allot of questions, but I am desiring to upgrade from my reliable I888 Ericsson World Phone that connects flawlessly to all units via IR Port and has so for many years now. (want better speed)
Any feedback is appreciated, Donald em

>Do you have a URL for this? It might be useful for another unrelated problem. When I make my photographs into slideshows (with lower resolution than the originals) on the laptop, I want to rename all the files automagicaly so that for instance DSCF5432.jpg becomes 15432.jpg, DSCF5445.jpg becomes 15445.jpg etc. This would be easy to do in a macro on the Psion, but I haven't found a way of doing it on the PC.
>I have found software that will rename DSCF5432.jpg to 00001.jph, DSCF5445.jpg to 00002.jpg etc, but this is not what I want. Retaining the origianal numerical part of the filename makes it easy for me to find the original file if I want to print the photo.
Owen, try "1-4a Rename". It's extremely flexible and will do all you want. Google for it.
Ciao!

I did not touch "psion" in the registry. I wouldn't have touched a thing if I hadn't had some direction! So, as a non-expert, I would suggest just getting rid of all 'psiwin' stuff and see if things then will work. I know nothing about 'communication', and maybe what I've suggested has absolutely nothing to do with your problem. Maybe some communication expert will respond with better advice. Sorry I can't be of more help.

This is not the case with my Malaybook. It is solid as a rock, just like my Revo. My only app problems are limited to Opera that is buggy and doesn't like java sites. Have you by any chance added the memory expansion to your nB? There are reports of stability problems if it was installed incorrectly.

Tom,
this could be due to the onetel system requiring SMTP authentication and the lineone folks don't? I don't know whether you could select SMTP authentication on Psion7. On a 5/5mx you can not and you will be unable to send mail through the restricted account.
Although, just seem to remember there was some tool that could add the password authentication that was discussed here in the digest a while ago called SMTPAuth. Also, there is a different E-Mail software that could handle the authentication = XJMail(?).
Karsten.
PS: I am not sure that you can send mail via POP3, this would require SMTP?

Re.: Registry - For those that know what they are doing you can also go to Start, run and type in regedit and edit the registry by hand. However, only do this if you know what you are doing !!
Answer to: Michael Asteriou
Re. Multitasking - We agree totally. Sometimes we do use two programs at the same time. I don't use WORD and SHEET files on my Palm (I have my S7 for that <G>) so can't give you times to open these. In general the programs open mighty fast and yes, the cursor appears (AFAIK) on the same spot where you left it.
Answer to: robertsont
Re. OneTel & POP3 email? - Are you sure both are POP3 compatible ? Are you sure your settings are correct for both ?
Answer to: Andrew Longdon
Installing .SIS files - Not only is it possible to install .SIS files from your Psion, it is advisable as you don't have to close down all the programs to do so.
Answer to: Michael Kosarin
Re. psionjvm.sis - If no-one sent it to you, send me an email and I'll check some Psiwin CD's I still have lying around.

Hi All
www.pelicansoft.com seems to have been taken over and I am now not able to get hold of LogIt now. Anyone got any clues as to where a full version might be able to be got a hold of, or something more than a demo or an upgrade? These were the people that produced NotePad and I heard that they have pulled out of the business.
