You can give JBStopGo a list of programs that should not be stopped. If you add CronTab to this list it will leave it running. You can also give it a program that should be started after all the programs have been stopped. You might be able to use this to launch the backup program when things are stopped. I've used it for years and haven't had any trouble with it, although I currently don't use either of those features.

Subject: NetBook and WiFi
Success! I've now got the NetBook working well over the wirelsss network.
In Ethernet settings I tried putting rLAN in the Aktuelle Einstellungen (current settings) box.
And it started working. Just like that, as the late Tommy Cooper would have said. (for those who didn't live in England in the 70s, Tommy Cooper was a tv and srage magician who specialised in not getting his tricks right. At his best, he had the audience laughing the before he even did anything - he was inherently funny. He died onstage during a performance - and the audience applauded because they thought it was part of the act. I think he would have appreciated that.)
Now the next load of quesations.
1. Opera on my NetBook identifies itself as Opera 5.1. it's slow, and seems to lack a proper Java implementation. Any suggerstions for this? If it gets to a page that requires Java, it just sits there and doesn't seem to do anything.
I downloaded a version of Opera 5.14 from the Opera website that identified itself, confusingly, as Opera 10.0. It loaded well, but as soon as it got to anything it dfidn't like fell over with ERROR_KERN 3. It also nagged a lot about being paid. It was faster than the resident version, but was like an illicit partner: too unstable to live with. Is there a way to make it better?
2. Opera keeps telling me that data are being sent unecrypted, and do I agree with this? How do I turn this nag off?
3. It doesn't seem to accept <RETURN> as meaning the the same as pressing Yes pr OK onscreen. Can I change this?
4. I saw that Anthony Booth, a regular writer in this Digest, asked the Opera house forum whether they had plans to upgrade Opera 5.14 for ER5. One of the Opera divas (called Haavard) replied that they had no such plans, nor would they allow the code out for others to fix. Sorry, I can't now find this exchange in their forums - perhaps Anthony could tell us where it is?
Do you think we could achieve anything if we all wrote in to say we wished they would? Not in an attempt to spam them or shut down their server - but rather an indication that there are some 781 of us (or whatever fraction of us that would do it) that would be interested. I would pay up to EUR30.00 for a fully functional browser for the NetBook and 5mx. If half of us would - that would bring in more than EUR 11 000. That's more than most programmers get by the month...
5. I see Vodafone are pushing pay-as-you-go GPRS cards at the airport Dixons for GBP127. Are these the ones that will work in the NetBook? Will they work in other countries? How can I tell if the card will work on the NetBook before I pay the GBP127? Salesdroids at Dixons aren't keen on letting customers try before they buy...
That's a lot of questions. I wonder if there will be any answers.

Subject: Just bought a new toy off Ebay
Hi all,
have just bought an old Libretto 70ct off Ebay to use for Internet/Email and Usenet when I need to be mobile.
I shall still keep the Revo+ as a diary etc because the Libretto is far to heavy to carry in a pocket!.
A colour screen is lovely though I keep tapping it (doh), no touchscreen of course. It is lovely sending & receiving Microsoft Office documents needing no conversion and no loss of formatting.
I've even got the Psion 56k Travel Modem working with it.
Regards,
Mike Dyer.

Subject: Fontmachine, Macro5... It's Alive!, Chopped off Digest,
Answer to: ALL
Re.: Fontmachine - The homepage of this cute little program is "www.mbrainsoftware.com". Now who will find a source for more fonts ?
Answer to: Martin Guthrie
Re.: Macro5... It's Alive! - Now that is good news ! I installed it immediately but cannot see a big difference (yet). However, I hardly look at the Macro5 screens as most of it is automatically with either shortcuts or codes in my head that go so quickly I don't have to look at the screen. Great work and looking forward to further improvements. Now if Macro5 will become available for the Nokia and Ericcson machines, that will make them immediately a better replacement for our aging Psions ..... !!

Re.: Chopped off Digest - Yes, it appears that the matter has been resolved. It must have been a general problem of Freeserve as someone else noticed it happening also in Yahoo digests.

That's exactly what I get when I try to have CronTab run a macro I wrote to have FastBackup run my 2 profiles automatically. Can't be a corruption in Macro5 because my macro runs just fine manually with a hotkey I set up in Macro5. It must be something about trying to use CronTab.
