Hi All,

In answer to Kevin Thorne,

I had the same dilemma when I recently switched from an S7 to a Windows XP

laptop and after trying out lots of  different programs for XP have finally

found one that I think comes closest to Agenda on the Psion. It is IBM

Lotus Organizer v6 - costs about ?45 but is very good - lots of different

views in the calendar - day, week, month etc plus a year planner, notes

section, contacts, todos plus more, all in one package. Unfortunately I

don't think that there is a trial version that you can download but you

should be able to find some reviews if you google for them.

Available as a (approx 21Mb) download when bought direct from IBM.com.

No connection to IBM. Just a happy user.

HTH

All the best,

Unfortuantely I cannot help with your Italian question.

However #1, once you have the ISP, can't you hook up to any pop or SMTP

account, even your own? Why use a new one?

However #2, I have the same question for, guess where, Ireland. I will be

going from 14th August to a 3 week Ireland trip by car. I would like to be

able to pick up and send some mails and maybe looking up a very few www

pages on the way - whatever my MC218 web browser allows.

Until now i did this with my Mobile phone on my travels, using my German

ISP and account with international calls and Roaming prices - they are VERY

high.

What solution would you suggest? My ideal choice would be: a prepaid Irish

Mobile card without a fixed base tariff (*) and a free ISP, to which I can

make contact to my usual SMTP and pop mail accounts.

If that is not possible, a cheap Irish fixed line ISP account would do,

since I own a travel modem as well. For this case, where can I find

Information on the telephone plugs used there?

(*) I learned that for Germany such a thing is available via Ebay: 15€

worth of prepaid airtime for 15€ + postage.

Last not least: From your personal point of view: Are there any "must-sees"

in your local area? Ring of Kerry is on our agenda already. Any hints

welcome, not necessarily from Kevin alone (best via PM; Irish music

festivals?)

Absolutely.  I will use the ISP just to get online at local, rather than

international, rates, and access my own account.

The main two mobile providers here are Vodaphone and O2 (Meteor is a third,

but coverage is not as good outside the cities.) Both sell prepaid SIMs for

about 20 Eu. These can be topped up in units of 10 Eu. They can be data (or

GPRS) enabled simply by calling. Once you have your number, you can

register a free e-mail account.

My ISP offers a free service, see www.eircom.net.  Regarding telephone

plugs, ours are different to UK (ours are smaller), and a UK plug requires

an adaptor to work here.  I am not familiar with German plugs, but I would

be fairly sure that an adaptor could be purchased.

I will mail you off-Digest on this.

Subject: SE P910, SyncTalk, Anfi Del Mar de Gran Canaria, New Phone/ PDA,

Clove 5mx,

Answer to: All

Re.: SE P910 - Thanks for all the answers about the P910. While it is of

course not a 5MX or nB / mB keyboard, it will certainly help with the

occasional shortish diary inputs I tend to make. I am still not convinced

about a phone/PDA combination so I'll think some more about it. Can anyone

comment about synchronisation between the 800/900 and an EPOC machine ?  Is

anything the same at all ?  What about a DATA program for the 800/900 ?

Answer to: Christopher Holly

Re.: SyncTalk - It still appears on all usual websites as a demo but the

link to the home page gives a "cannot be displayed" message. I think it

would be unwise to pay for it at this stage.

Answer to: Owen

Re.: Anfi Del Mar de Gran Canaria - Hi Owen, good to see you ar ein contact

with the world again. Where in the world is this place ?

Answer to: Kevin Collins

Re.: New Phone/ PDA - I used to think like you to keep them separate.

However, I am not really happy with my Palm PDA and if I want to return to

a Symbian PDA these are just about the only options. Nokia also makes them

but these phones are more like a brick. The 800/900/910 you can still hang

on your belt without discomfort.

Answer to: Kevin Thorne

Re.: Clove 5mx - I don't know the answer, I just saw it on their website.

Why don't you send them an email or phone them ?

Subject: GPS navigation, CF Cards, Attachments,

Answer to: Axel Moberg

Re.: GPS navigation - I'll start with your last question. The first series

5 was the original machine called "S5" with 8Mb internal memory. The

upgrade was the "5MX" with 16 Mb and some other improvements, amongst them

the speed of the processor. The 5MXPro was only issued in Germany ahd

instead of ROM it had all the Operating System in RAM which had to be

reinstalled with each hard reset you would do. The MC218 was a 5MX brought

out by Ericsson.

Now as to the GPS navigation questions :  1) It is possible on all Psion's

from the series 5 and above. I used it on the 5 first and now on the

mBook.  2) Most GPS makes can be used that are NMEA compatible, but you

will have to buy a connecting cable as well and I am not sure for which

these are available. I use a Garmin eTrex with a cable that both connects

to the Psion and powers the GPS from the cigarette lighter.  3) Route- and

Streetplanner are specifically meant to find your way on the road, the

first between cities, the latter in cities. There are European and UK

versions. The first edition of Citymaps works as well. There are a variety

of other programs that will do similar functions, and I seem to remember

there is even a program to download your own maps with. Search the usual

sources.  4)  The program Psimapper and RealMaps were two programs that you

could use with your own designed maps if I am not mistaken. Look for more

at http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk.

Re.: CF Cards - I note on that website that a normal Scandisk 1 Gb one is

only Gbp 129.-. Prices are truly coming down !

Yes they will. You can also use GPRS with these phones from the netBook,

Revo or 5mx (not the 5).

For specs of all Symbian/EPOC phones, why not visit

http://www.symbian.com/phones/index.html. Here you will find a complete list.

As for reviews, why not visit http://www.allaboutsymbian.com. It's a good

start.

Subject: SD-CF1 Adaptor

Hi all,

Some time ago I posted the following question. I know this is not Psion

related (but it was mentioned here in the first place): I really would be

helped very

much if somebody (off digest?) could give me an address in England, where I

could buy a Minolta

SD-CF1 Adaptor. In the meantime I learned that the art. number is

8700-9500. Anyhow, in Holland that is the Minolta Europe number. Your help

is much appreciated, certainly if you knew how much time I already have

spent to order this

adaptor around the world.
