Hi Keith and all users,
sorry, this was an error in the program. You already found the right address: www.psioneering.co.uk/digests/Tips.txt

For those, who did not yet check the last digests at psioneering.co.uk: We
changed the form. Now the topics will be shown in blue color and underlined as
link to the appropriate message. The separators *+++++++++++& work as links
to the top of the digest.
So you can more conveniently read only those messages you want.

Hi Rolf,

Any proof for that?
If there really was a layout before QWERT which caused more typewriter jam,
then switching to QWERT would lead to a speed up instead a slow down.

the QWERTY lay-out.
So, which layout is quicker?

Maybe he just skipped your lengthy monologues as I normaly do. ;-)

If I want a PIM, that "mirrors" a paper diary, I just use a paper
diary.
From a computer PIM I expect a little more.

In case it is necessary to close down an application to free up some memory, I
prefer to decide myself which one I need least in this situation. After all it
was ME who opened all of them and not a random number generator.

Subject: Psion 5MX & Nokia 6310i connection problems
I'm a newbie on The Digest. It's been great to find a resource like this and
hope my post/query is appropriate.
I've been a happy Psion 5MX owner for a number of years now but hadn't used
it for e-mail or web use. I now want to use it for mobile email access and
have had a really frustrating time trying to get it to work.
I'm using a Nokia 6310i and am seeking to use a GPRS connection. My SIM is
enabled for data and I have a successful WAP connection from the phone
itself. I can also establish a successful Comms connection between the 6310i
and the 5MX. When I try to use mail or browsing, however, the two don't seem
to want to talk.
On the mail programme, I get the following message: "Problem connecting to
remote mailbox; Already Exists". I've tried a soft reset and then get the
following message: "Program Close; Program: Etel Server; Reason Code:
USER;
Reason number 23". Any subsequent attempts to connect get the original
error
message above.
Meanwhile, the web browser gives me a similar "Page already exists
error".
I've also tried with Opera which gives me a lot of feedback with a simple
"Network error" message!
I've spoken to my ISP and checked settings and initialisation strings with
them, but Psion seems to be a rather exotic creature as far as they're
concerned. An email they sent referred to my "Xion". However - albeit
with
my limited knowledge - the settings seem to be ok.
I've spend hours unsuccessfully trying to get this resolved, including
re-installing everything on the Psion. Anybody out there who can help with
any suggestions? I have a GSMTSY.txt file if that might help. I can't see
anything wrong, but then again I don't know what I'm looking for!!

Subject: MC218 and Series 7
Hi all: Looking for a home for an MC218 barely used, if interested
contact me off digest.
I am looking for an AC (Mains) USA for a Series 7
Question: Has anyone experience with Email and Cingular in the USA or
Voicestream and can offer guidance as to set up and use with a Series 7.
Thanks

Subject: Is this a first (re: The Digest V1 # 618)
Looking at the discussions in V1 #618 I was struck by the fact that there are
no _Psion_ discussions. A first?
There are six postings on Symbian smart phones and one on etiquette.
It looks as the timing of the name chenge was just about right. Beginning of
the end or End of the beginning?

Just putting in my tuppence worth. Both Expansys' chairman's leather case and
Proporta's Alu-Leather case (very similar designs) work very well with the
P900. I've used both, in belt-clip form.

Subject: vCard released
vCard - by Ian Chapple - is an EPOC application which allows vCard files (aka
.vcf files) to be viewed and synchronised.
vCard may be especially useful if you have contacts databases on a variety of
different devices and/or platforms; by exporting the contacts as vCard files,
importing them into vCard and comparing them, any differences in the contacts
databases can be highlighted.
vCard files which have been imported into vCard can be compared, combined,
edited, printed and re-exported as vCard files.

Subject: Pascal's website / macros
Hi All,
I note that Pascal's site at http://pnicolas.epocboulevard.com/ has gone
offline (and been down for the past couple of weeks I think). I'm
assuming that it's unlikely to come back up.
Somewhat fortuitously, I had already grabbed all the macros from his site a few
weeks before it went down and had started compiling a slightly larger
collection on my own site before his 'went'. That effort was accelerated
as soon as I realised that his had gone and I've now got most of his collection
(a minority were listed as links to sites that no longer exist) plus a few
others - more than 150 in total up on my own site as of today. Available
at http://www.pscience5.net
And if anyone is worried about the apps. other than Macro5 that used to be available
on Pascal's site; please don't be. They will be made available again in
the near future at another well-known location.
Best regards,
Martin Guthrie
