Spammers are not mystical beings who can conjur real addresses out of the ether, even if they may sometimes seem like that! ;-) So they must be getting it from somewhere...

I'm sure there are lots of laptops with a battery life close to what you want, but you'll likely find they are bulky and/or very heavy.  Maybe this will change when small fuel cells are commercially viable...

I think you'll be waiting a long time, because most people get so much spam that they won't have a chance of noticing if it has increased a bit due to the Digest - and those that DON'T get much spam will most likely  be using some spam deletion system anyway (which could easily mask the Digest's effects).

I would agree that the 6230 is a good size, and can confirm that the IRfeature works with a Revo, so should be OK with a S5 too. Taking out themini-SD card is less easy, however, as you have to remove the back cover(which itself is difficult to do) and the battery to get at the card. Notsomething that one would want to do very often!

To Itamar,

>Re.: 5mx replacement - The other option you have is to get a netBook or mBook, or a S7 and upgrade it to a netBook....
> However, you cannot hang it on your belt or put it in your pocket...

Thanks again for all your help, which I truly appreciate.
Yes, these machine are great. In fact, when some years ago my wife saw me use my 5mx (and s5), she decided she wanted one too, but before it arrived she wanted an upgrade. So she now has an s7 and she is very happy with it. But then she is much less happy when we leave home and I take my 5mx with me in my pocket, and she has to leave her s7 at home. In other words, whatever I end up with, it will HAVE to be truly mobile, about the size and weight of the 5mx.
I am slowly comng to the conclusion that the Nokia 9500 Communicator comes closest to what I (and perhaps other Psioneers on the Digest?) need. What worries me about it, though, is its keyboard, i.e., whether it is possible to use it for writing longer documents, albeit with two fingers.
I wonder if a former user of a 5mx who now uses a Nokia 9500 could possibly let us know how the two compare, especially vis-a-vis the keyboard, but otherwise as well. That would be a great help and favour to me and I believe to others too.

To Owen,
About your TFTDs, I always enjoy them. In fact I collect those I find the best or funniest for possible 'recycling'.
I will miss them. I will also miss your wisdom, and I hope you can find some way to stay connected to the Digest. In any case, have a great trip!!

I've just downloaded a very large colour world map.  Although I've not yet processed it for RealMaps, it looks good on a 19" screen.  So should be OK on a nB or 7.

It's 1,800 x 900 pixels, 120dpi, 24 bit and a .BMP of 4,860,000 bytes

It's in a zip file of 1,346Kb.

Re.: IR modem with Palm Tungsten E - You were not wrong but every now and than people do complain about straying to wide off the topics, so I thought I'll ask. I am allowed to ask, am I ?  Thanks for the answer and hope you will get an answer.

Subject: Exporting as VCARD

Dear all,

I am attempting to transfer my netbook contacts database to outlook using the export function on the psion. I am successful as far as exporting the database as a vcf file, copying this to the pc and opening the import function in outlook. However, when i come to import the file, only the first entry appears in the database in outlook, none of the others. The rest of the vcard entries are in the exported file - I have checked this by opening the exported file in notepad. The format of the data seems fine.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Tom

Subject: RMRalarm.opx

Hi folks,

I'm looking for a WINS version of RMRalarm.opx to run Procyon on the emulator. Usually Google comes in helpful, but not this time. Only four hits, three referring to Procyon related pages :( and one to a long abandoned website in apparently Hungarian language.

RMRalarm.opx is shipped with the Procyon package (as I had already discovered in an earlier stage) but only MARM not WINS, and only the .opx without header file and documentation (for programmers.) It's no use trying RMR's website www.rmrsoft.com eighter.

So does anybody of you folks happen to have this opx for me? TIA.

BTW, the Hungarian site gives a hint of what RMRalarm.opx does:

> The another big problem was how to get out the city data from the World application placed in ROM. Thanks to help of Otfried Cheong from RMRSoft his .opx which among others makes this task.<

This made me recall a question here about how to achief just such a task. Wasn't it Owen asking?

That's all, Folks

Subject: Connecting to XP with PsiWin 2.3.3

I have been unable to connect my Diamond Mako to my Dell Lattitude D600 laptop, which runs on Microsoft XP.  After sporadic failed attempts to make the connection, I finally worked my way through the entire help screen that PsiWin offers if the connection doesn't work - all to no avail.  Can anyone advise me about whether this is a hopeless task?  I did a search in the Digest archives and about all that I learned is that one needs PsiWin 2.3.3, thought one person had manage to connect using 2.3.1.  But several people reported no problem at all.  Unless I can connect the Mako, I'm assumng that I'll have no luck with my Mbook, since I can't even get it on the list of Epoc machines.
I can connect to my desktop O.K. - but am often away from home using my laptop and would like to keep things backed up and synchronized.
