Kim, I've now found the info you need.  Have a look at this page:-

http://www.psicix.co.uk/reader.htm

from it you can, or could on 11-12-01, download version 1.42:-

The web site was maintained by Mark Fleeming mfleeming(AT)cix.co.uk .

The file is 38.1kb.

Subject: RE: Nokia PC Suit

I have Nokia PC Suite installed on my laptop to do the things that Psiwin
does for my Psions.  Since I have installed PC Suit, if I go to install
Psion programs on my Psions, it seems to bring up the Nokia installer
instead of my Psion installer.  So it will say Nokia device disconnected----when I am trying to install on my Psion. Is there a way for
my laptop to know the difference?  The only way that I can install a new program on my Psion is to bring up My Psion and drag the program to my
Psion from my laptop.  PC Suite works fine for my Nokia.

Thanks,
Bob

Subject: PsiWin Plug-in removal

Some time ago I asked about ways to prevent calls to PsiWin dlls from
causing problems starting Outlook after removal of PsiWin. My particular problem was due to Outlook loading pwolplug.dll.

The advice from the digest was to go through the registry and remove all references to Psion and EPOc and this was a useful exercise as there was a
lot of clutter left behind. It didn't fix the problem though. Today I found
a web site with a snippet of information on this at
http://www.garethjmsaunders.co.uk/pc/computer/psion-hkey-psionplugin.txt.
This shows how this particular plug-in can be removed from within Outlook's laberynthine options dialog and also highlights the associated registry
key. I am sceptical about this last part because I have never had this data
in the registry - on the other hand removing the plug-in from with Outlook
has fixed the error message.

The sequence is...

1. In Outlook click Tools | Options...
2. Click the "Other" tab
3. Click the "Advanced Options..." button
4. Click "Add-in Manager" button
5. Select or deselect "Psion Sync Plugin"
6. Click OK
7. Click OK to exit "Advanced Options"
8. Click OK to exit "Options"

Cheers,

Steve

Subject: netBook back-up battery recognition

Reference my earlier messages regarding the failure of my netBooks to recognize the back-up battery, I am disappointed to say that both machines still suffer from an inability to detect the presence of the back-up
batteries. I have rebooted the machines repeatedly following the
step-by-step procedure described in one of my previous messages and each
time have been successful in restoring the capacity to detect the back-up. Sadly, neither machine has proved reliable in retaining that facility for
any length of time.

Anyone got any ideas for a more permanent fix?

Thank you in advance.

Subject: Reregistering Mentor (how to get a code)

Dear all,

Does anyone know whether the author of Mentor, Ben Thornton, is still
active in the EPOC world?

I reluctantly stopped using Mentor on my netbook and 5mx a couple of years
ago when I purchased FontMachine because Mentor refused to work with the latter. Recently I dusted off my old S5 with the intention of running
Mentor on it.

Unfortunately I can't find my registration code and the author Ben Thornton doesn't seem to be responding to e-mail's to wulisoft. (The website has not been updated since 2002.) Does anyone have a more up to date contact for
him? Or does anyone know whether this is now abandonware that Martin might
be able to post on his wonderful Psience5 site, with a registration code?

I do have a copy of the web-receipt from SoftShop from whom I purchased the software (and also the promise of the author that I should never have to
buy the software twice: http://www.wulisoft.com/abtphil.htm ) and if, in
the absence of Ben, any member of the EPOC community is able to to provide
me with a working registration code I should be happy to prove my
credentials by sending them a copy.

Alternatively, does anyone know how these registration details are stored? Somewhere among my backups must be a registered copy of the program, but
which of the various program files would I need to locate and reinstall in order to make the software work?

I shall be very grateful to anyone who can get me up and running again.

Best regards,
Ian

My policy is to take the card 'reader' at face value.  I only ever read
from a CF card in a Windows PC.  With one exception - to my Garmin GPS 2Gb
CF card, but that never goes into a Psion.

If I _had_ to write, then I would use a set aside CF card that is only ever written to by Windows.

I think a lot depends on the individual CF card, make and size.

Subject: CityMaps=Europe .sis Files

Having been forced off the bicycle this past week (crash - 2 broken ribs), I've had time to extract every .sis file, country-by-country, from the CityMaps-Europe CDs.

It's a total of some 960MB, zipping them only reduces by 1%, so it would require 2 CDs. These files, along with the overlays I did for RoutePlanner-Europe, make it easy to know and get the files to install for
a projected trip.

Now that it's done, I'm not sure just what to do with them - whether they
can be made available to others or not. I'm open to any ideas.

Happy Cycling,
