Hi Itamar,
Cingular is my phone provider. It's like Orange, T-mobile and Vodaphone. CSD-I have to remember what it stands for you have CSD and HCSD---your provider has to have this, from what I understand, to use a phone like the 9290 that uses a Modem number as its access point and to use the fax facility. I hope this helps and is not more confusing.
Thanks,
Bob

I have been a lurker (and once or twice have even been able to make a small contribution). I am totally impressed by the knowledge and willingness to share evidenced in the Digest.
What really is impressive is the tightness of the the newsletter. I subscribe to two other groups, both in small-telescope astronomy. They repeat prior posts endlessly (reminds me of "fleas have litle fleas on their backs to bite 'em . . .") and consequently there is more chaff than wheat. But the Digest - - well done.
(this paen inspired by Rolfs' apology for an error because "he hadn't reviewed the Digest before it went out")

Subject: SimCity for Revo+
I was wondering where I could get a copy of SimCity for my Psion Revo +
Atelier seems to have stopped selling it for EPOC, and both Handango and Tucows don't seem to list the software anymore.
Many thanks -
Caspar

Jim,
It is not attachments it is the whole message that doesn't send, unless it is a reply. I can't figure it. Everything else works albeit in Basic form. I tried Web but as stated earlier it doesn't work I'm surprised Opera 3 worked I thought the security was not high enough.
>>Do you have a small print problem on your NBook screen?
I don't have a problem with the font size it is very readable.
Cheers Jon

Hi Peter,
I tried a free wifi hotspot in Portsmouth and though Netstat saw the network I could not connect. I asked the providers and Marina people and they couldn't help because " Centrino does all the login for you" I tried to explain I needed a network name and password but when I mentioned Psion the eyes glazed over and I gave up. Let me know if you get a better answer!
It does work well with my broadband and WEP security however.
Cheers Jon Welford

Subject: WIFI on a NB; & switching Opera versions
Peter,
First I suggest that you uninstall Opera 3.62 so that you have a clean install and the netBook is not confused. You may have to do this manually. Opera 5.14 is installed in the netBook Rom so if you have version 3 on a CF card, you will need to delete it. That said, you may want to keep both versions runnin g as versin 5.14 does not support incorrect security certificats and I run both. I use Dual Opera to switch between versions and it works very well.
Dual Opera was written by Lutz Wohlfarth<address truncated> and I think is on Martin's site. If you can't find it, e-mail me, I have a copy and also install files for version 3.62 of Opera.

Get your Credit Card Out!
WiFi hotspots are easy to connect to. The control Panel Settings you need are (where the value is followed by "*" this is a suggestion!):
Name: Wi-Fi HotSpot*
Configuration Method: DHCP
Hostname: NetBook*
Device: Lucent WaveLAN/Orinoco Card
All the rest of the settings should remain as the default.
When searching for a WiFi hotspot, I use the NetStatRF application to see what is being picked up.
Run Opera and (I suggest) type in www.google.com for the address, when Opera askes for the connection select the HotSpot profile you set up. The hotspot will then redirect you to their introduction and billing page, you will need SSL for this so Only Opera will do.
Regards
David

Subject: Memory problems
I recently started experiencing error messages for "No Memory" and "Not Enough System Memory" on my netBook. There was 24MB of C drive free so there seemed to be no reason for this. I had about 13 or 14 programs/files open. This was the first time I have seen these messages. I tried defragging the system and just re-starting the "System" process but with only limited success. Finally I did a Soft Reset and reclaimed about 6MB of memory! Since then the problems does not returned.
Has any body else had this issue? Any ideas as to the cause? I though System memory was allocated to each process so a process could run out of memory in theory, but then that would likely happen at run time and I have only seen this on the Nokia 92xx emulator!
Regards
David
