Mr Franco Cozzani
Press Release 03/2005
"Handy-PC" from ROAD GmbH available in first quarter of 2006
First prototypes successfully tested
Berlin, November 4, 2005
The development of the new device class "Handy-PC" - a synthesis of mobile
phone and PC - is under way and almost completed. Berlin-based ROAD GmbH has
successfully tested its first prototypes. Delivery will begin soon: ROAD
plans to sell the product in the first quarter of 2006. The company has
increased its development and sales teams and works hard on completing the
product. The unique scope of features of the Handy-PC has been enhanced even
further: Among others, the device now has a WLAN function and 128 MB RAM
memory. After completing various tests the process of certification will
begin soon. Despite strong demand, distribution of the product had to be
postponed to the first quarter of 2006.
The Managing Director and founder of ROAD GmbH, Dipl.-Ing. Hans-Peter
Constien, said: "Our future customers will get a device that really offers
all options of mobile computing. The business user will greatly benefit from
these features. To enhance them, we have hired more development staff and
have already started our sales activities."
Main features of a Handy-PC:
- form, size and usual operation of a normal mobile phone
- full-size inside keyboard with PC layout, wide-format PC colour screen and
a touch creen as mouse-replacement
- open hardware architecture enabling the user to work with applications
under different operating systems (Windows, Linux or Symbian)
- pre-installed PC remote control for remote access to files and programs of
desktop PCs and servers
About Road GmbH
The Berlin company ROAD GmbH (Remote Office Access Devices) is the sole

I put it on one of my dash trays (MPV!) on a non-slip mat. The screen is kept bright by the software, so no auto-dimming.

Subject: MalayBook infrared problem
My MBook normally connects perfectly with my 5mx via infrared. However, it's just started refusing.
If I try to send a file or text from the MBook, it immediately -and whether or not there's even another machine present. - displays the message 'Could not connect / The other machine cannot receive infrared from this machine' (rather than 'Ready to send ... / Looking for an infrared machine to send to').
I get the identical message if I try to receive to the MBook - again, immediately and whether or not there's another machine present.
If I try to send from the MBook's Contacts, I get the message 'Not supported'. When I clear this, by hitting Return or Escape, I get the 'Looking for an infrared machine to send to' message; but the MB then sits there and does nothing.
The 5mx seems to be working fine - for example, it communicates with my mobile phone OK, whereas the MBook doesn't.
I've done several soft resets on the MBook, the Remote Link setting is 'Off', I've tried various settings in Comms: Communications Settings ...
All suggestions gratefully received.
Chris

Any recommendations for a 9500 in-car holder - allowing for TomTom
navigation ?
Is a in-car 9500 CHARGER recommended for use with TomTom mobile 5 ?
Do you need to stop the 9500 screen auto-dimming ?
Thanks

Subject: My Revo does not work anymore... or does it?, end of summer, TomTom,
Answer to: Joop Gerritse
Re.: My Revo does not work anymore... or does it? - Ok, thanks. Your Revo is definetly NOT from 1991 as was not introduced until much later. It appears that your REVO runs out of battery life and when that happens it clears out the internal disk resulting in you losing all your data. As this machine is known for it's battery problems I suggest you either look back in the digests (on the website you will find a search function) for advice how to solve the battery problem or have a new battery fixed at one of the currently available repair Companies.

Re.: end of summer - Ii was not so lucky. I came back from my holiday in Israel and forgot to set my Psion back to European time so it was showing 2 hours later than UK. So when I started my back up it took just over 4 hours. I did not want to stop it and get into more problems so I just let it run. I tried AlarmPlus once before but had some problems with it, can't remember anymore what exactly.

Re.: TomTom - Is anyone already using TomTom mobile 5 on his/her phone ? I noticed that it is now available for UIQ phones as well and wonder whether it is better than Route66 or not. Allaboutsymbian gives a clear preference for the TomTom version calling Route66 a cheaper clone of TomTom and states that in general TomTom mobile 5 is a lot better. Any comments ?
