Subject: PhoneMan Pro locked out by lost password (fresh appeal for help)

Re-requested plea for help!

<I installed PhoneMan Pro on my Mako (Revo+) some time ago, and had password-protected one of the phones that I had synchronised with. I have unfortunately lost the password, and PhoneMan Pro will not open without this password. I no longer wish to obtain details of the "locked" phone memory, I just wish to use PhoneMan Pro again.

I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling the program, but it still looks for the password & refuses entry to the program. Presumably there are still traces of the previous installation remaining after an uninstall.

My question is, is there any way to wipe PhoneMan Pro's "history" so that I can start from fresh with the program?>

Many thanks

Answer to: Ian Chapple

Re.: "Rogue" processes - You are right you can't see which one is "misbehaving". I suppose one has to guess a little and use common sense. If for example by mistake you open the camera, although when switching to a different task the camera will still  be "on" and continue to function and take battery power away. Any program that has is running without needing input from the user would be a misbehaving one. I suppose GPRS and internet are another example. Infrared port and bluetooth will also continuously search for connections I believe.

Re.: Use of GPS in a car - Thanks for the "honest" answer. Personally I use my mBook on the dashboard and hold it in place with two hooks that I clip into the air ventilation opening. I open the mBook and push the top against the front screen (of the car) to hold it in place. It works in my car (BMW) as the dashboard is flat, but it will not work in all cars.

To All:

Re. Battery on P910 - A little further testing showed me that last night , after carefully selecting only a few programs to stay open, it took about 3% of the power of the battery per hour, not using it at all. I traveled on Thursday and after watching 4/5 of a film still had enough juice left for standby until late afternoon, a few calls and twice emailing. I recharged it at the airport on the way back for 30 minutes and was back on over 50%. Not too bad after all.

Re.: Palmtop GPS - A sound of warning. I owned two different units of this GPS which has a magnet and you need to attach it to the roof of the car, bringing the wire back in via the door. The first one continuously stopped working and I sent it back and received another one. The second one also did not work that well, quite often lost the contact and than needed a reset to get it working again. Now I use a Garmin eTrex and it just works.

While on holiday recently in Germany, I bought a small digital clock. It also displays, as I type this, 19 11 SA 16.2.

19th Nov, Saturday, temp 16.2 deg C

It matches the BBC time pips exactly everytime, but is an hour out as it's receiving it's own CET transmissions.

So no need to set it.  It also did the summer time switch automatically.
