Subject: Nokia 9500 and Polar S625X (heart rate monitor)
Hello,
has someone managed to send training data from the Polar S625X to the Nokia
9500. The software (Java Midlet named Polar MobileLink
(http://www.news.polar-deutschland.de/index.php?id=122)) is written for the
Nokia 5140 BUT is runs on my Nokia 9500 without problems. The only issue I
have is that I cannot transfer my training data from the Polar S625X
to the Nokia 9500 via infrared (IrDa). Is the IrDa set up from the Nokia
5140 different from the 9500. I cannot believe this... Therefore it should be possible...
Any hints?!
Thanks a lot
Thomas

Subject: Review of Sony Ericsson's M600 UIQ Smartphone
Further to my posting in Digest 903 on the P990 & W950i review's, Mobile-Review now also have a review of the Sony Ericsson M600. For those of you that don't know, this is a Symbian 9/UIQ 3 phone that is aimed at the business user. It lacks the P990's wifi and camera but the payback is a much smaller form factor and - probably - smaller price.
Check the review out at
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-m600-en.shtml (part 1)
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-m600-2-en.shtml (part 2)
For those of you who are not interested in this particular phone, the review also provides some generic insight into the OS/UI environment.
On a related note, Sony have posted initial details of the trial applications that they will load onto the P990's Memory Stick. To check out the application gallery, click here:
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/site/global/newsandevents/latestnews/newsmar06/p_p990_memorystick_apps_gallery.jsp These are all extra-cost applications and are not those built into ROM. Nevertheless, they are good examples of the type of powerfull environment the forthcoming new P990 will offer. Now if they would just go and launch the phones!
All the best from Dublin, Ireland

Subject: Toolbar Confusion,
Answer to: Hoffman, Susan
Re.: Toolbar Confusion - The answer is (of course) to do a hard reset if you can be bothered. If the toolbar works ok again it certainly is the problem of having copied the Revo files over. However, I don't know which file holds these settings so I can't advise you which one to delete. Hopefully someone else will give you that detail. Success.

1. I think that when PDF+ was mentioned it ought to have been
PDFprinter.
2. Austin - I had the same problem wiith PlBeam when my Ser. 7 was
real (not upgraded to NetBook). The PlBeam people agreed with me that
PlBeam 1.3 would crash the S7. PlBeam 1.1 however works perfectly
well (in fact I never understood what improvement there was with
1.3). I have a zipped copy of 1.1 if you would like it sent.

Hi Chris,
I guess that you can still install Opera v5.14 onto the machine. You (and others) may be interested to hear that it's now free software. Opera Software recently sent me free generic codes to offer on my pscience5 website. And I guess if you install DualO at the same time then you can probably switch between both versions of the browser.

D'Oh! Sorry, my mistake. I didn't mean PDF+, I meant the PDF Printer driver (also available from mBrain Software).

Subject: Nokia 9300i
Hello Folks,
Some time ago I moved from a 5mx to a Palm Tungsten T3. Whilst this has
not been an unpleasant experience, a friend has recently obtained a
Nokia 9300i, and I find myself wavering once again! Is anyone using one
of these, that could answer a few queries of mine?
I am most interested in: the syncing to Outlook; the use of Documents
to Go; the use of Avantgo; and the general robustness of the device.
Any comments?
With best regards,
Roy M

Subject: solved Space-Bar problem # 881 (1)
Just before smashing sth against a wall, I found a solution for the spacebar malfunction. It works so far, without being perfect:
- Take the spacebar out: (use a thin knife as a lever in its middle, it goes out lightly).
The round whatchamacallit in the middle on its backside is what keeps it in place and is also what presses the electrical contact under the rubber-mat. The two lateral pairs of thin teeth attach to a piece of steel wire, a straight spring lever actually (you only see the ends, it's hidden under the rubber) which should ensure pressing the bar anywhere presses the button (instead of just tilting the bar).
- Take a butane lighter (one with a large but low-pressure flame, like a table-lighter, is better) and warm the _centre_ of the spacebar from the outside_ (two seconds of swiftly moving the flame back and forth not too close to the plastic should be enough)
- Bend it lightly: pull the ends _outwards_ (i.e. press in the middle of the normally visible side and pull the ends. Keep it slightly bent until it cools (a few seconds). It should be almost imperceptibly bent outwards.
^ warm here ^
---------------------------
|| O ||
^ pull push pull ^
---------------------------
|| O ||
- Replace it. Fit it in place, press in the middle until it snaps in place, then press the two pairs of small teeth in place (their snapping onto the thin wire is very light).
This worked for me. Don't do it if you're not sure you can - althugh there's not much you can do that camn make it worse than before (short of breaking or melting the teeth, of course). If you ever saw an optician adjusting your spectacles you know what I mean. If you _know_ an optician who has this warming device ask for help, it's of course better than a lighter.
Don't blame me please if you melt anything...
Hope this helps someone,
best,
vlad

Re.: Opera basics - Great you got it working. I don't use Opera at all (I have enough PC's around me to use those for websurfing) so can't help you with that.
