Susan,

delete Shell.ini in System/Apps/Shell.

Then do a soft reset.  This will rebuild the toolbar.

May I suggest that Neuon's excellent nSISUtil program is your friend?  You can use it to manually extract all the files from the troublesome SIS! Which ever disk you select will have all the required files installed to the correct path.  You may get one or two unnecessary files, which are only needed during the installation process, but these shouldn't cause any harm.

If you really have no idea what you are doing with nSISUtil, then it might be best to back-up first (just in case!), although I really can't imagine how you might cause a problem with nSISUtil.

Jack,

Thanks for your help...... the only thing is I have had a look at the sites you have suggested and downloaded some files but they are all .MMF files.  As you said, I need .dat files!  Can you help?

Hi Folks,

David (Ford), if you use nSISUtil, freeware from Neuon, you can extract the individual files from the sis file and install Web manually. It’s not difficult as nSISUtil gives the path for each file. Although I use a 5mx I can see no reason for it not to work on your machine.

I use Web for some purposes like downloading files that Opera tries to open or accessing websites that Opera somehow screws up.

Martin Guthrie probably has nSISUtil on his site.

Happy days,
Phil.

I have symbian text editor on my 5mx.  I have files which are .txt files although many of them I have been able to delete the .txt extension and they are still recognised as text files.  (So instead of it being Name.txt, it is just Name, but it is still shown as a text file).

However I have one that if I remove the .txt extension then it shows up with a question mark and my 5mx cannot decide what type of file it is.  Why does just this one do this while all the others know what type of file they are?

Can anyone shed some light on this, or explain how I can delete the .txt extension on this one file so that symbian text editor still knows that it is a text file?

Regards,
Tim
