Subject: EpocSynch
First, thank you to all who answered my question concerning FoxFire or Opera as a replacement for IE. Have decided to try FoxFire first.
After many unsuccessful tries over the years to get EpocSynch to work, I finally made it. All is working as it should.
I am synching all files in the root of the Document folder. This includes all on my spreadsheets and data files as well as Agenda.
I am synching my mail (first killing on the secondary machine and then synching from primary).
I am synching my data file for my Contacts.
Now I am looking for advice.
In my Documents folder I have 25 folders. One of those folders (Poetry) has 33 Folders, each with about 50 word files. The rest of the folders only have files in them.
My question is, how are the long time EpocSynch users handling nested files.
I assume the answer is that EpocSynch will only handle nested folders within each of the three profiles provided for the program. I hope I am
wrong.
TIA,
jim

Personally I far prefer using Vreader 5 (free) to read e-books. It will read naked text files or compressed versions. (PC program to compress is available). It allows change of font size and even change of orientation, as well as bookmarks and so on. I use it sideways on my Psion 5, easier to hold.
It's even better on my NetBook!
And of course no shortage of books on Project Gutenberg.

Psiwin tells me that my current back up will be complete in 311 minutes. Is this a record?

Subject: Mysterious Numbers
At the end of each "Digest", after the bit that says:
--------------------------------------------- -------
You've Been Reading The Digest
-------------------------------------------- -------
There's always a number. Last time, and for a number of issues before that it was 4. I checked back to February and it's been 4, 2, 1 and... 7! Wot? No 3, I hear you cry? No.
Can "The Digest" Team enlighten me/ us as to what it means?
Best wishes
Austin
PS. I'm STILL working on the follow up to my previous article but a major computer crash (Windows, of course) has slowed me down a bit - but it will come, soon!

Hi Austin and all,
this is the number of team member beeing on duty. The number is created automatically, when a team member is composing the digest.
The members 3, 5, 6 no more work in our team. So we are now 4 persons, composing and sending the digest alternately.

Do you have the MC series laptops?
and don't forget the HC series and the workabouts as well. (I have, and also an Organiser One in good working condition... :-)

I'll see if I can find it. I just need to dig out the cable for my own Geofox, then I'll start digging through catalogs. (I am the lucky owner of one of those put together by the usergroup after Geofox went under)
:-)

BTW: anyone have an Osaris they're willing to part with?

Re.: Psion Computer journal - It was not my intention to come on heavy nor to defend Wil Green. However I still believe one has to be careful in these kind of matters. If you take money from the public, you have to give the service or product you promiss to give and Will will do himself a big favour if he would answer his critics, either for example in this digest or in personal emails.

Re.: Problem with mobile modem - I have no experience with neither this phone nor these providers so I am sorry I can't help you further. Hopefully someone else will be able to.

Hi Carl,
you problems sound like one end of the (Irda) connection overruns the other (either the Psion the phone or vice versa). You should try to set up software handshaking in your modem/connection settings.

Subject: For: Simon Oliver : Running files from OPL on a Psion 5mx
I generally change the name of a downloaded file to a more descriptive title when I am downloading by adding my own description in front of the downloaded name. In Windows, I use XPlorer2, which has a quick and easy access to the comment field in the Windows files. I use this for the author's name.
On my 9500, both Projekt (outliner) and SmallBase database can directly open files without going to the File Manager and so I can keep details of ebooks etc in these files for direct opening from either of these apps.
Best Wishes,

Hi Prar,
I forwarded your request to Lars Finster.
Here is his reply, translated by myself:

Hi Rolf,
I hope, I right understand the request. Here is my answer:
My homepage wan't have an English version, because my English is to bad.
But you can translate whole websites with http://translate.google.com/translate_t.
I like to "bury" "foreign" Psions, too (like recently a Swedish one).
For that I need an expressive photo and a short text, what leads to the disaster.

Any chance of an english translation of that page - or at least the
submission instructions...
