Subject: Bouncing the digest
Hi,
the following addresses (i.e. theirs ISPs) continue to bounce the digest. Even my private mail to them (without relaying) was bounced!
We see not another way to avoid a further bouncing than to unsubscribe them for 1 week (beginning from the next digest).
If someone of you want to get the digest in the future, please contact the Digest administrator:

Subject: Route 66 TMC
DearAll (mainly Itamar in this case),
has anyone had any problems with Route 66 Traffic Information (on a UIQ device)? Mine seems to have gone AWOL. If I request traffic info in the TMC window, I get information for France, Belgium and Germany, but not for Holland (where I live). I recently tried it in the UK, without success. What's strange is that the icons (queues, roadworks etc.) DO appear on the map, but they do NOT appear in the TMC window, which is a pity, as an actual description of a problem can be quite informative.
Route 66 "support" (if that's the right description!) told me that TMC info is only available when navigating, which does not explain why I DO get info for Fr, Be and De when I am NOT navigating. When I pointed out the incongruity of this in a further email, all went quiet. I do like Route 66 a lot, and generally find it quite reliable and easy to use, but it is a bit buggy and the customer support is pretty poor.
I also have another question; has anyone had problems with a SE Pxxx (ie. p910) phone switching off every now and again? This happened to me a few times, and eventually I discovered that the battery was slightly loose, meaning that power could be briefly be lost if the phone was tapped or shaken. I thought I'd solved it by sticking a couple of TESA strips on the underside of the back cover, to apply pressure to the battery and stop it from moving. However yesterday, while using my phone to navigate home using Route 66, we hit a bump in the road and my phone switched off, implying that my "fix" is anything but reliable. Has anyone else had similar problems, and if so, how have you solved it?
Cheers, Ian.

I was horrified to hear about Owen's disaster but very pleased to know he himself is safe. I have been reading his postings on the Digest for many years and feel for him in his distress. I would like to offer my condolences on the loss of his cat (& his boat) - I doubt that there is anything I personally can do to help but maybe just knowing we are thinking of him will bring a little comfort.

Subject: For baspsion RE Tomeraider 2 & 3
For me tomeraider has developed a sort of love/hate relationship recently, mainly bought about by the availability of TR3 (not currently and probably never supported on EPOC.) I have found some articles re-compile nicely others are a disaster and having a registered PC TR3 doesn't make any difference. When you think about it re-compiling a previously compiled file is deemed to have a percentage of failure what you really need is a TR2 compiler (before you ask I havent got one.)and run it on a text version to get a 1st generation compilation.
As for wikipedia it is very good I am sure but I cant see the point of having part of it, if I cant have it all, I cant be bothered with it....and I dont possess a 4Gb CF and since a CF that size will be one of the latest fast variants I am not even sure if it will work on a Psion. I dont seriously believe the Wikipedia is worth the expense of a 4Gb CF either....and what if outgrows a 4Gb CF ?

"I regularly use Tomeraider. I wanted to download an upgrade of the Wikipedia, but the site http://download.wikimedia.org/tomeraider/ only has TR3 files, no recent TR(2) files."
Dear Bas,
Go to the following site http://download.wikimedia.org/tomeraider/200412/TR2/ and click on the any of the Epoc zip files. This is the 2004 version. Note that the largest is nearly 500mb. The newest version (2006) is over 1gb so the 2004 version may be better for you!!!! I'm not sure if it has been proved if a 2gb or larger CF card would work in a Psion, without partitions?
Hope this is of some help!

Subject: Tita (and Owen)
Hi,
I'm sure Iım only one of many who want to send their best wishes and hopes to Owen.
His peregrinations have always interested many of us and I hope he will continue with a successor to the NaomiJ - and a successor to Tita.
Trygve, please give Owen my (our) best wishes when you can.
Take care,
Phil.

Subject: PsiWin Restore Query, Nokia 9500,
Answer to: Jakfish
Re.: PsiWin Restore Query - Did you think about storing the back-up on an internet site and if needed connect via the Revo/Mako to the internet and copying the copies down from there ?
Answer to: Jon Welford
Re.: Nokia 9500 - Is it worthwhile the learning curve for a machine to be phased out ? These days whatever we use will be phased out within a couple of years. it makes it a lot harder to invest good money in software. Abt. half a year ago I bought Route66 for my 910i. In the meantime the OS software has been upgraded to v3 and the v2 went dead almost overnight. Hardly a new release anymore. And of course every new release of an OS will make the old one obsolete and the software unsuable ! As I said before, in contrast some DOS programs of the 1980's still work on a Windows XP machine ! So, I will continue to use my P910 as long as it will work. I could buy a 2nd hand one as reserve, but than I will get into problems with some of the software which was registered for a particular phone ... <sigh>.
