Hi Rolf,
>>may be it's of interest for other Digesties. Therefore I would like to thank you here in the Digest:

Unfortunately I found your "Passwords" (www.freepoc.org) only yesterday. It's much better than "Trezor". Thank you.<<

You're welcome.

>>The onliest wish I have, is to decrease the sort procedure. It takes more than 30 minutes for my 135 records.<<

That's a good point. It's always been a problem (although it is marginally better than not being able to sort!). I have made some changes to Passwords this evening, and put a new version both on my website (www.ian-chapple.com) and the FreEPOC website.

There is a new sort option [Account (First Letter Only)], which is a lot quicker, although the result is obviously not quite as nice. It is now also possible to cancel sorting by pressing 'Esc' or 'Enter' (this only works on a Nokia Communicator or on a UIQ phone when using an external keyboard).

Hopefully this is an improvement...

Cheers, Ian.

Reply to Itmar:

Itmar, to the best of my knowledge the 1.05(281) release is the latest (and only?) release designed for the mBook.  1.05(457) was a netBook release that will not run on the mBook.  Why do you think that you 'need' the 1.05(457) release?

Subject: Registration Files

Dear All

I asked an off-thread question some issues ago, but did not get an answer (perhaps because it was off-thread!).

I have registered software on one PC, but have lost registration on another set.
Is there any way I can find the registration on the first set to copy to the second and/or a way of copying the full, registered, software from the first to the second?

Any hint would help - it probably makes no difference, but the software in this case is Innovation PJ Killer.

Regards to all

Itamar

I have the following if they are of any use.

nb_257uko.zip
NB_450UK.ZIP
nb_453us.zip
uk os 158.zip
de os 158.zip

I also have the software (Setnb.exe & Dae2ke.ldd) & instructions to set
the Netbook identity which can occur if you have an EPROM error.

Subject: Tips & Tricks for "Data"?

I have to confess that after using Psions regularly for the past 7 years, I am just now starting to use the Data application. In the past I've generally used PsiDat, because of its ability to do financial calculations.

I'm now trying to create a list of long-term todos/tasks that I can easily search and archive. Has anyone succeeded in doing anything like this? I'd be interested in any tips. The best I've found so far on the subject of using Data is at <http://www.ericlindsay.com/epoc/bdata5.htm>.

Is it my imagination,  or is sort routine used in Data a little flaky? I get some weird results when I try to sort some columns in ascending/descending order.

Is there any way to set up a Data file to mimic some of the outlining possibilities offered by "Progect" for the Palm platform? In other words, how could one use Data as a outliner?

Finally, is there any way to export the contents of a Data file in a decent looking format?

Thanks,

Peter

Subject: Langton's Ant now included in Monster5

Hellow fellow Psionists,

Phil Aypee mentioned lately the mathematical phenomenon of "Langton's Ant". I included it in my recursive program package Monster5, which is now available for download in Version 1.1 on http://psion.uh-lab.de/index.html#Monster5 .

DESCRIPTION:
MONSTER5 is a demo program of various recursive algorithms
for generating self-similar objects.
You can select between RECURSIVE TREES, SNOWFLAKE,
DRAGONS, FROND OF FERN, TOWER OF HANOI and LANGTON'S ANT.
Pertinent Keywords: FRACTAL, CHAOS, SELF-SIMILARITY.
The package is delivered with the OPL code and a
mbm graphic, so that you can experiment with it. You are
encouraged to alter the fractal values in the opl code.

LANGTON's ANT is a very simple system which demonstrates emergent behaviour, a structure not described in it's rules: An ant starts on a white grid square, facing North. When the ant is on a white/black square, it paints the square black/white, turns right/left 90 degrees, and steps into the next square. Note the 'emergent highway' after 10000 steps.

Subject: Which ?Modern? mobile Phone, connectable via Ir to 5mx (or MC218) ???

Hi Friends, I still happily use my MC218 (almost identical to Psion 5mx) connected (via the relevant Infrared ports) to my old Ericsson SH888 mobile ph, for connection to Internet and SMS managing.
I want to upgrade the mobile ph. with a more “modern” one, that should STILL (!) do the above, connecting via Ir to the MC218, but that could ALSO (!) have Bluetooth and a “large” colour display, so that I could use it (with the appropriate sw & GPS device) as a modern satellite navigator.
I tried the MC218 with a Nokia 6260 and 6233 but NO WAY: the Ir connection did NOT work !
:-(((
Does anybody have instead positive experiences, knowledge or suggestions ?

Many thanks
Giorgio
