Subject: Leaving the boat
Dear Psionists!
After being inactive and just watching the Digest now and then for more than a year, I find that it is time to say Godbye. Since I moved to a Windows phone (Qtek 8020, aka iMate SP3i, which together with a Freedom bluetooth keyboard (with Swedish characters!) works fine for me away from my home PC) from my MC218 + SE T610, the Digest offers me less and less of interest. Thx to The Digest teams for your appreciated efforts!
Bye,

Hi Jan,
it's a pity, but it's up to you.
So I must delete you from the user list of my DigHandler, too. Thank you for your saying goodbye. As I remember, you are the first one, posting such a leave-taking message.
You know, that you can read the digest not beeing a subscriber?:
Go to http://www.psioneering.co.uk/digests/index.html
At least in the next digest can be comments about your unsubscribing.
Best Regards
Rolf

I'm not sure that I understand. The Chr+Another key can be used in several apps.
I use several short-cuts in iDesk which have Chr+Another key combination. The fact that these combinations are not used in the in-built apps means that there are several combinations available for use for my own short-cuts.
In the excellent Best File Manager Chr can be used in combination with the CBA keys e.g. I frequently use Chr+CBA2 to send files to my PC via Bluetooth.
However, for easy use of the 9500 in two handed mode, I find the single keys used in Projekt and other software by Kylom to be the handiest way of controlling a program. I often feel that the Ctrl+Key combinations have often originated on a PC keyboards and are sometime very difficult to use on the minarature keyboard of the 9500.

Martin

Subject: Upgrading" from Psion 5mx to Nokia 9500

I also found this very irritating until I got used to popping up the calendar using the Tab key, and selecting the date directly. But I still miss the 3 month and 12 month calendars.

Have you tried AutoType from Arjen - I have a number of short-cuts for changing the dates of the todo lists.

Hello Stephane,

As far I know, you can't directly get running a complex query with Data. I tried to think of a workaround with Macro5, but I guess it is not worth the trouble. And anyhow it is impossible to copy date fields, so you could not put a query with dates.
The quickiest way to select a group of records with Data is to open the Data file with PsiDat. Then "save as" the table to another one (you can't use queries directly with Data files because it is too risky : the file could become corrupted). Then you can write your query. You do not need to "learn" PsiDat. You just have to use the query syntax (which is sometimes not too obvious, but PsiDat has a very good help file).

Subject: RE: zaurus and Owen
Hi everyone.
I did wonder about the net book, but came to the conclusion i would rather spend the money on a new gadget that is still being actively developed and has better connectivety options - especially as the price is similar.
Great news about Owen getting another boat. Would someone mind letting him know I may be able to help if he needs bits. Maybe Owen could drop of a line?
Cheers for now.

I've had this a few times. I discovered that the main batteries were marginal - on the power screen it look just aboutok, but the extra strain of the serial link puts it below EPOC's limit. Try a fresh set and see if it makes things better.

re MBook for 5mx
I have two MalayBooks, two 5mx, and 2 Tungsten C (one actually is my wife's).
I find the only thing I'm using the MBooks for is some daily maintenance on my Earthlink account which I could be doing with my desktop or my 5mx. I do it with the MBooks to make sure they stay charged (best solution for the OS problem).
I am realizing how important the 5mx is for me and how not so the MBook. It's just too large to fit in my pocket.
Anyone out there who has a 5mx they wish to trade for an MBook.
I also have two card modems and one WIFI card (for the MBooks) that I would trade for a travel modem.
I've settled in fairly well with the 5mx and Tungsten C combination. The C for ebooks email and solitaire, and the 5mx for everything else.
