You are using v2.3.3, right?
(Not 'plain' v2.3)
I've used PsiWin on WinXP for years, and can say that it has no problems
running on an Non-admin account, if it was installed with an admin
account on WinXP Pro.
(I never log in with my admin-account anyway. I just use 'Run as' when
installing programs)
My guess is that there's something in your normal account that blocks
PsiWin's access to the serial ports.
Maybe another program, or maybe some remains of an earlier installation?

Communicating between Psion5mx and Nokia 9500
I recently acquired a Nokia 9500. I'd like to be able to keep my Agenda and Contacts (actually a database) in the 5mx synchronised with the 9500 versions. Is there an easy way of doing this? It seems the two machines don't like to talk to each other via infrared.
I'd also like to know if there's an easy way of transferring a plain text file, and a Word file, between one machine and the other.
If the "easy way" involved the use of a PC, is there another easy way which doesn't involve a PC?
I realise I could use the 9500 as a modem to transfer a text file to a remote host, and then use use the 9500 as a computer to bring it back again, but that does to be a little elegant and would at least cost something for the modem connection time.

Subject: Freeware Symbian Personal Banking app
For those of you who have Symbian powered Smart Phones, the freeware banking program JABP has been updated to Version 2. This new versions runs on: Sony Ericsson P800, P900, P910 (UIQ 2)
Sony Ericsson M600 P990 W950 (UIQ 3)
And many other platforms that support Java. There is also a more fully featured version called ABP that continues to run on Psions.
For me, I now use JABP 2 on my trusty P910i and a PC version on my laptop. For those of you who have UIQ3 phones, there is an added benefit here: These phones can act as a USB drive and this means that JABP installed on your PC can directly work on the data files on the phone without any copying or exporting, etc, etc.

Hi all,
lots of programs wont run under 'user' only privileges unfortunately in XP. It spoils the idea of 'user' and 'admin' accounts.
Hopefully they'll fix this with Vista.
Congratulations on your purchase Itamar, I'd like to hear about your Qtek 9100.
The earlier correspondent was referring to the 3G TyTN like variant, rather than your GSM
only version though.
However from my research on various forums, your less technological version appears to be
more reliable.
My first question is what's the keyboard like ?

Mike Dyer.

Subject: MacLink Plus Deluxe and Psion
Hi!
For conversion of vintage MacWrite docs I updated my MacLink Pro to v. 15 Deluxe. Anyone know whether, and if, how it may be useful for converting 5MX docs (Word, Notebook et el) to some useful Mac formats?
Best,

I have owned an I-Mate Jasjar for over a year now and it is indeed a
fantastic machine. It syncs using Bluetooth with my Vaio laptop without any
problem.

which is basically the same phone. There is a lot to say and write

This makes for very sorry reading as far as the outlook for Symbian-based "devices"… indeed, I doubt we can call them "smart"phones!
I think this switch was already in Itamar's writings since a while, was it not?
Despite this being an Epoc digest, I would like to know more about the Windows 5 mobile devices. I would only ask the contributors to please compare extensively to the previous Epoc experience of most digest readers.
This out of sheer open-mind interest, since I am an Apple freak at heart and, nowadays, I try to steer clear from what is not Mac - compatible out of the box.

Subject: Qtek 9100,
To All:
Re.: Qtek 9100 - Just a few first impressions in no particular order. Screen is a lot better than my P910i, clearer and better readable. Thumbboard is better too, two fingers instead of one is increasing speed with almost 100%. A bit bulky but sits neatly in holder on my belt like the P910i did. Screen moves to horizontal view when sliding out thumbboard, can also be manually put to horizontal view. Lot's of free- and shareware available, some really useful and enhancing the phone, others more games and not that necessary type. Integration of different software packages better. Works very similar to Windows on PC which is, even though some hate it, an advantage as it creates familiarity and ease of use. Have not yet tried the camera.
Sofar a few first impressions.
