Subject: Season's Greetings, and A Question
Hi folks,
First, I want to wish you all Digesteers the Compliments of your Season, and also to ask, if I may, the following:
I've been a subscriber to the Digest for many years, and was a fairly frequent poster when I was into all things Psion. However, in the past nearly two years - and while I am still nurturing my Psion S7 for quite a few applications, and referring to it on a regular basis - I've had a Pocket PC (Axim X51v) as my main handheld, and I am now wondering if other ex-Psioneers are in a similar situation, and if so perhaps would like to be allowed to share their experiences with Windows Mobile, or Palm, as well as Psion?
Actually, I find this a difficult posting, because we Psioneers generally joked at "Windoze" users, and I certainly am NOT an ambassador for Windows Mobile; at the same time however I wonder if it is too much to ask if genuine Psioneers, who now have alternate mobile systems as well, cannot post their experience of their new devices?
Of course,I must stress, I am not suggesting an open WM or Palm forum to everyone, but just a platform to compare the pros and cons of those devices vis-a-vis Psion
Regards,
Kevin (West Cork, Ireland)

Subject: 9300i
Got me a Nokia 9300i for my birthday!
Give me a year or so to find out how everything works on it. But I'm learning fast - I'm writing this on it.
A little miracle. The brilliant screen - phone, email and Net in one box ...
But I don't see it supplanting my 5mx any time soon.
The worst news abut it: no spellcheck - and no prospect of one, apparently.
I don't need a spelling-checker to check my spelling - that's excellent, thank you - I need it to move quickly to questionable spellings and to replace them quickly.
Is there really no chance someone will produce a decent 3rd-party app to handle that?
If not, I'll just have to learn to type decently with 4 fingers. Or 2 thumbs.

Subject: Hybrio batteries
The Hybrio rechargeable batteries (from Wilco) in my 5mx have lasted 22.5 hr and given 1560 mAh before giving the "Too low for backlight" message - very good for rechargeables.
But they give out as abruptly as other rechargeables, making them difficult to change when away from mains power. So I'll probably stick to trusty Duracells when on the road.
Their selling point is that they retain charge well when not in use.
