Subject: Question to the Subscirbers

Dear subscribers,

Your Digest Team noted the message of Kevin Collins about the future of the digest contents and we have discussed this ourselves as well.

We realise that slowly but surely our beloved Psion and older Symbian machines will stop functioning with fewer and fewer new or replacement machines available on the market. This means that we have reached a certain limit of the subjects we can still discuss while our attention will slowly but surely move towards a new generation of smartphones that will replace our machines. This means for the future of the digest that sooner or later we will come to the crossing and will have to decide whether to adapt the digest of to let it slowly come to an end.

We feel it would be a pitty to let this hard core of subscribers lose contact with each other after many years of advising each other. Accordingly we feel it would be of interest to the subscribers to (again) widen the digest to a wider variety of smartphones. However, we don't want to do this without first asking the subscribers for your opinion. We could for example call it the "Smartphone Digest" or the "Handheld Digest".

Therefore we opened a new email address<address truncated> where you can send us your opinions in this matter. These emails will not be published in the digest and no emails will be send from that address so in principle the address is safe. We will however let you know what the majority of subscribers indicated to us and make our decision based on these emails. So, for once, don't be a lurker and let us know your thoughts.

Thank you and best regards,

Itamar Engelsman
The Digest Team

>… while I am still nurturing my Psion S7 …  I've had a Pocket PC (Axim X51v) as my main handheld, and I am now wondering if other ex-Psioneers are in a similar situation, and if so perhaps would like to be allowed to share their experiences with Windows Mobile, or Palm, as well as Psion?

I'm a very current Psion user (RevoPlus/7Book/MC218) that also enjoys using a Palm PDA (Tungsten T). I use my Psion for storing important documents and word-processing (i.e., work), while I use the Palm for appointments, email, web-surfing, RSS, ebooks, MP3s and watching videos. I'm very happy with the Palm/Psion combination. If my Palm were to break, I would immediately replace it with a wireless Palm TX. But for writing tasks, the Psion remains unparalleled.

Peter

Re.: Getting there ? - Interestingly enough it appears that machines with keyboards in many different formats are returning again into the market. Some have thumbboards and others more complete keyboards. It is a pitty that Psion stepped out of this market a long time ago as I am sure they could come up with new machines based on their experience in this field if they had persisted a little instead of leaving.
