I would agree with you Itamar, especially if Sony who left the Palm
platform, joined with Psion.

There is however one large 'but'.

Today products are made to look impressive, but fail to perform.  Also
the owners of the Psion Brand, can probably make more profit, by
investing in the parasite money market than investing in manufacturing.

I would first like to state my most grateful thanks to Itamar and the
band of dedicated Digest monitors, who have kindly given us all the
benefit of your time and expertise in bringing us the Digest for so
many years.

As I have moved on to desktop platforms which have no Psion
synchronisation, I am not too interested in getting my failed Psions
repaired.
But I am interested in keeping up with the changes in technology, and
reviews of new PDAs with potential as replacements for Psion-style
palm top computers.
So I would be interested in opening up the scope of the Digest to
other platforms.

I have got, for sale, the following:

Two Psion Revos, complete with box and all acessories.
Another Revo, for parts (does work, though)
One Ericsson MC218 (unit only, has the screen cable problem)
One Ericsson MC218 working, with box and all acessories.

Going for cheap!

Thanks

Pedro

Answer to: Fergus Flanagan

Re.: Nokia 9500, SE P910i, Qtek 9100 and Palm Treo 650 - Just to correct a small error at the end of your interesting message, the 5MX is not a Symbian device but very much an EPOC one. Symbian was implemented only on the Symbian phones, the SE and Nokia's and a few more.
I never went back to Palm's after my Sony Clie as at that time the OS was not multifunction so each time you went to a different program the former automatically closed, losing the place you were at that moment. This was very frustrating at the time. Palm today has probably solved that some time ago but it just did not attract me enough to go back to it.
I am very happy with my Qtek 9100 at the moment. True, I had to buy several programs to make it more functional and more like a phone. The main ones were iLauncher to launch programs straight from the Today screen and PBreeze to enhance the Today screen to show more information and to creat shortcuts to dial people I dial a lot and to send SMS messages straight from the Today screen. These make it work a lot more like I was used to on my P910i, also with third party software. PBreeze also gives you the contacts straight on the Today screen with a much better search function which is rather pathetic in the Contacts program. Several freeware programs like for example automatic redial, PPC finder to find files, WM5NewMenu to go straight to a new SMS, task, note, etc. are a further big help. SpBackup completes the package as the basic back-up program that comes with the phone only copies your PIM details to the PC but not your full settings and internal disk. Can you elaborate what attracts you in the Treo 650 as opposed to the P901i and the Qtek ?

Re.: T-Mobile MDA - This phone is indeed the same as the Qtek 9100, see my message above. An unlocked phone means that it is not limited to the provider you got it from but that you can put any Simcard in the phone and it will work. In my area you can unlock any phone for between 10 to 15 pounds in mobile phone stores. You don't need to take it to your provider, just put the simcard in. Sometimes you can download settings from your provider's website, otherwise you phone them and get the required details if needed.
I have not had any problems with low sensitivity on my phone but I don't travel often or far away so within the London area I suppose such a problem will not exist. Mind you, I did take it up and down to Manchester and never lost the signal. Next week I'll be in Germany and the week after in The Netherlands, Belgium and France so I will report back if I don't forget (in which case feel free to remind me). The calendar program is more or less like the windows PC one. I bought as said PBreeze which enhancdes the calendar and shows a lot of the contents on the Today screen. You can get freeware programs to do part of this function as well "Calendar+" but when I installed it on my phone the sound of the alarms and reminders was lost so I uninstalled it and after needing to do 2 hard resets never touched it again.

I now own the Palm Treo 650 which has been a revelation.  I won't go on about the Treo as I have only had it a couple of weeks but in this short time it has seamlessly and effortlessly synced with Outlook beautifully, has one of the best screens I have ever used, can almost do everything the Qtek 9100 did (no wifi) and does what it say on the tin with absolutely no fuss.

Hi Fergus and all,

Isn't the Treo amazing ?, what a compentant, professional piece of kit.
I still love mine after 2 years in January.

I guess this is how most Apple users feel, that everyone else is misguided.

I would replace it with a Treo 680 without any hesitation should the need arise.

Regards,
Mike Dyer.

It is a mobile that you can use with any network.
