To Itamar:

Thanks for your info on Spb Backup for Windows Mobile; I have it on my Axim X51v, and have no fears of hard resets any more: you're right, it's a great app.

BTW on the subject of WM apps., I don't seem to have read of any resolution to the "Future of the Digest" question; can you bring us up to date on this question, please? (I might be able to advise you of cool WM apps <G>)

Best regards,

Kevin (West Cork, Ireland)

Re.: oops dead Maylay - I appreciate that to continue repairing the 5MX at high cost is uneconomic and as it is a "dead horse" not worthhwile. However, why would you retire your mBooks ?  I still use my netBook daily and it continues to work perfectly ok. I think you can have many more years of work from these machines, specially if you have 2. And for a lot of functions it is so much easier to quickly open a mBook, make a few entries and close it again above switching on the PC ... etc. Just the other day someone saw me with the netBook and asked where he could get a machine like that .... !

We from the Dutch Psion club ( http://www.pdatotaal.info) sent the screens to
http://srsgmbh.de/You get a new (strong) cable for about 85 Euro.
Their repair is a good repair.
Oke that's my word, but I hope that an other reader of the Digest, Keith Giles or OHSIX from the US, will confirm my opinion.

Don't do it by your self, when you sent it to Germany you get a good working 5MX back.
Success with your decision.

Kees.

Jakes question

I'm looking for a Windows-based Database View (CSV, Access, any file format that PsiWin can do) to read my Psion's lengthy Data files.

My data entries have only four fields but the Notes section can be several paragraphs long, which makes reading them in CSV form on Excel very difficult.

As for the Windows viewer, I don't need to input, so mere viewing is fine.

Jake - This suggestion will only work if your feild names match those of Outlook's / Contacts (feilds ex: Name, address, phone# and Notes)
I've been using this method for years without any faults - However, I don't have long paragraphs in my note feilds to see if there's a limitation on the amount of Data that can be tranfered too n fro - if this does work for u then u can edit your data on any machine without losing data during the sync.
So I use Psiwin - Psion's Data program to Outlook/Contacts/example file through the Psiwin setup sync window, and presto! all works well.
Hope that helps, Donald
