Answer to: Melvin Woody

Re.: Restoring to a new Revo - Why don't you try to copy all the releveant files manually from the PC to the Revo ?  That way you can also check more carefully what will be copied over and what not. If you did not have too many programs installed you can also just reinstall the programs and move over the data only.

*  I use a work around for Gmail-

*  Using a Psion compatable ISP, my Gmail accounts- I have several- are *  set asforward to my ISP email address.

*  Outgoing messages are sent with the necessary Gmail address. It helps *  to setupseveral email accounts with your ISP

*  logon information and your gmail address.

Hello Howard,

Yes this is the best solution.
Thank you.

Answers to Steve Hodgson:

1) Steve, pls keep us (me) posted on this issue of multiple agendas on Series 60 and Mac 2) Quite probably you know, but Nokia recently posted free iSync plug-ins for all their E-series, including your e65, on one of your web sites. Just google for "iSync Nokia" and you hit the site as N° 2 or 3 in the list 3) For Series 60 3rd edition apps, have a look at Steve Lichtfield's 3lib.com site. I think Steve is doing a good job for our community.

Subject: Switching back to Symbian

Way back in November 2004 (V1 #640) I posted about moving from a
Psion netBook to a Palm Tungsten. I've just switched back from a
Palm Treo 650 to a Nokia E65 running S60 Series 3 and hoped it
may be of interest to list some of the issues arising from this switch.

The first thing that struck me was how much less important the
data seems than back in the day running a Psion handheld. The
important data is on the desktop and the importance of the
transfer over from one device to another seems less critical.
Maybe that's just me an obsession with keeping data and backing up.

Second point is that there seems to be a real dearth of software
for S60 compared to palm and Psion in its heyday. In some ways
that an unfair comparison - there is software for EVERYTHING on
Palm and Psion was pretty well served by a lot of good software.
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of the
little-program-that-does-one-thing-well kind of application such
as file managers, lottery checkers, British Airways timetables etc.

On the other hand there are some real gems. I was particularly
impressed by Papyrus as a more competent Agenda application and
SplashID as a way of storing and accessing reference data. My
favoured eBook reader is available for S60 (albeit as a beta)
and unlike every other eBook software I have looked at, has a
document creation application that runs on mac OS X.

It was amazingly easy to synchronise software on OS X in fact.
No additional application software required in fact, just a
plug-in for iSync and then it was easy to synchronise via
Bluetooth to both iCal and the OS X Address Book. The
anti-aliased fonts compared to those on the Treo are very easy
on the eye and the Palm platform is showing its age with poor
support for non-western character sets and I guess the Symbian
platform will have advantage in this area in the long-term.

Compared to a Palm Treo one needs to press a lot of buttons to
do anything simple such as send a text message or create a new
agenda entry but a Treo does have a LOT of buttons to make this
easy and the touchscreen helps. Having said that, I think the
battery will be coming out of the Treo this weekend.

Apologies for the long post. I do hope it is of interest to some subscribers.

Any recommendations for software are welcome, off-digest via
email is fine.
