Well, Netbooks have not been manufactured for a long time, so I assume "1/2 year ago" was second hand?  Then the battery may have been used very heavily, or otherwise left unchanged for a long time, and this will have reduce the battery life to 1-3 hours :-(

Only other possibility is that something is draining the battery: 1. Try a soft reset (after a backup) to see if there was a rogue process eating CPU (=battery) time.  2. If you have a PCMCIA card, try leaving it disconnected.

It wasn't the the faint hearted (risk of fire or explosion of you make a mistake!), but I'm afraid that I don't the URL anyway.

But if your battery's life is not very long, you can try to increase it (a bit), by FULLY discharging it, then fully re-charging it, then fully discharging it, then fully recharging it.  Fingers crossed that helps.

Lithium batteries have a limited shelf life. Even when never used at
all, a stored battery may not last longer than three or four years.
Luckily the Netbook batteries are made with three very common Lithium
cells, so it is likely that someone will offer a cell replacement
service.

It is an industrial package Windows Mobile device, with reasonably
nice hardware specifications. Nothing to do with Symbian or any of the
old Psion applications. Seems it is aimed at the rugged phone market?
Personally I don't intend to return to the Windows camp (been there,
done that, would rather not put up with the crap).

No. The Eye-Fi FAQs specifically state that it only transfers jpg files.

You would also need to configure the EyeFi smart card for your network
on a Windows or Macintosh before use in a Psion or a compatible camera.

Only sold in the USA so far. I hope that some Psion owning camera
enthusiast gets an EyeFi for their camera, and reports whether it
would transfer a photo from a Psion.

Hi all

I'd recommend the Palm 750v. It runs a modified version of WM5 professional and I've found it pretty stable with only the occasional reset required to fix a sound problem. It has better synchronisation with PCs and Outlook than any other device I've owned, retaining nearly all information and no duplicates. Not so good if you're a Mac person though. Files in main storage can be edited on the PC either live or to synchronise later. The only feature missing is the PsiWin copy anywhere, but that seems to have become extinct.

Of course you could wait for the Psion ikon!

Re.: netBook battery - It certainly does not overload itself as I have one battery inmy spare mBook constantly connected to the mains to change over the battery whenever my netBook battery is empty. It works very well this way. I think Chris is right that mos tprobably some program drains the battery. Do a soft reset and don't start any programs and see if it still happens. I would not try to make a battery yourself as if you fry the machine it will be very hard to get another one I suppose. But surely these batteries are still available ?

Re.: Psion back again ? - Well, it is the Psion Company that makes the machine but that is where it ends for me. There is no EPOC or Symbian software behind the machine and there is no keyboard either. It is just a very expensive (so it appears) compact robust PDA/Phone combination for whoever needs a rock for a phone.

Re.: New device wanted - In the UK nowadays you can get a laptop for under 400 pounds which is just over $ 800.-.

Re.: Wireless - I think it would copy ALL files to your computer but it will not know which files need to be backed-up again and which ones not. Also, I am not sure it will be able to handle to overwrite already existing files.

Best regards,

Itamar

Hi Simon,

Have a look at their FAQ-Page:

http://www.eye.fi/help/
There you will find:

--------snip------------
# What file type does the Eye-Fi Card upload?

The Eye-Fi Card currently supports JPEG photo uploads. Non-JPEG content can be stored on the Eye-Fi Card like a standard SD memory card, but only JPEG photos will upload.

# Do I need to install software or drivers?

The Eye-Fi Manager includes a lightweight application installed on your PC or Mac to help set-up and manage your card and sharing preferences. No special drivers are required to configure or use the Eye-Fi Card.
-------------snap----------

So I guess, it will work, but only with JPEG files.
You could probably backup your PSION-files to a ZIP-file and rename that on the 5mx to *.jpg and later on the PC back to *.zip!
I do not know what they want to say with: "The Eye-Fi Card is currently only supported in the USA." Is there a difference between USA-WiFi and WiFi in other countries? Maybe they only sell and "repair" them the USA.

Psee you

I thought I had been able to access links in Opera 5 that now are crashing Opera and generating a Reason Code User, Reason Number 23 error message. I cannot find out what this means. Anyone know?
