} Most of the subscriptions, at least here in the UK, have a
} "fair usage" policy which caps the amount of data one can
} download in a "payment-month". Does anyone know how to work
} out how much data is downloaded when you listen to the radio
} over the internet for, say, 1 hour? Does it make a difference
} if it's music or speech? Do different stations transmit at
} different data rates? Etc. Etc.

I use PlusNet and have a limited amount of data download between 8am (I
think) and midnight. After midnight there is no limit. However, my
total download has never gotten even close to the max. including after
midnight!
I use Netmeter. It pops up on my screen for any internet activity and
shows the actual (second by second) amounts. It also has a logging
system to show usage. Today, this week, this month and total. I've set
the monthly table to coincide with my billing day of the month.
It's possible to reset one register to zero. Use it to do your own
tests.
I use V-0.9.9.9, but while looking for the URL, I note that there's now
a V-1.1.3.

The problem I find is that the BBC will only allow downloads for one
week. After that it's gone. Most annoying when you find on return from
a week away, that you've only got one episode and not two to get.
